Downtown Oklahoma City - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I went downtown (Oklahoma City) Wednesday, and took about 132 shots. Here are some of the ones I thought might be worth posting. Tell me what you guys think.

That one is on the side of the courthouse

This is a statue behind St. Joesph's Cathedral (right next to the Murrah Federal Building, which was bombed in 1995)

This isn't really an extremely tall building in the large scheme of things, but it is hugely wide. It's called Leadership Square. They had my prom there a while back, actually.

This was the bottom of a statue commemorating the air force. It's in a park right in the middle of downtown. Pretty cool I thought.

This was a Magnolia I found on the canal. (Yes, Oklahoma City now has a canal and riverwalk too. Our damn mayor couldn't think of anything original, so we had to copy San Antonio)

These are on a path in the Myriad Gardens. Wonderful place to walk through, really. All sorts of flowers.

This is one giant greenhouse called the crystal bridge, the myriad gardens are all around it downtown. Pretty cool place. I'll get some shots inside there eventually...

I don't know if any of you have been to the Oklahoma City bombing memorial or not, but this is known as "the wall". Right after the bombing there was a fence up around the building, and people basically turned it into a makeshift shrine. Even after they tore the shell of the building down and built the memorial, they left this up. Pretty powerful to see...hits me hard being a local as well.

They built the memorial up around this tree. They call it the survior tree because it was right next to the building, and was virtually fine afterward.

*edit* I went ahead and changed these to thumbs, per Speed_Gibson's suggestion. Hope this makes them easier to view.

beatiful pictures but you should use Irfanview, the GIMP, or whatever other program of choice to resize those to a forum friendlier resolution and file size. You can always link to the large master shots. Many poor souls here are stuck on dialup and not everyone uses a 21" monitor at high resolutions like me.
