Here are some pictures i took when i went to the Portland Japanese Garden a couple weeks ago. The pics are lessened in quality by photobucket, and i was also messing around with the settings on my camera so some don't have as good color as others.

Wonderful photos. Love a great Japanese garden. Really liked the photo of the path going up the stairs.

Any idea what those stone formations in the sand mean?

it wasn't specified in the pamphlet that you get when you enter the garden. there is a free tour every half hour or so where someone leads you through the garden and explains things for you, and they might explain what they mean, but i didn't take the tour.

Looks so much like this one to me, it's scary.
Mine's from Kyoto, but damned if I can tell which one is from Japan at a glance. They did a kick ass job making that place you went to!

cept for your second shot *way too bright,sorry*

........these are great pics......i like the way the rock/sand is raked around the bottom of the large stones.
