Landscape (b&w)
Here's something I shot at Madeira last October. The original was shot on color slide film. Color -> B&W and some contrast adjustments (actually quite a lot of adjustments ;)) were done in Photoshop.

I must say, very nice job. looks like a true B&W photo
|
Great depth -- It almost feels like you could fall off the edge

Great pic! The sky looks menacing. I love black and white film.

Beautiful work. You've got the Ansel Adams look going. Ain't Photoshop grand? Tell us a little more about your camera...

Thanks for all the comments!
At the moment my only camera is a Canon Digital Ixus V3 . I've been using a Nikon F601 (I believe it's known as N6006 in the US (?)) but I sold it. I'm going to get a D70 as soon as they hit the stores here in Finland. I believe this photo was taken with a cheapish 28-200 mm Tamron. My father has some nice lenses so I may have borrowed one of those at the time, unfortunately I didn't keep track of the details. Here's the color slide in case anyone is interested: http://janne-namibia.gatools.org/tfp/k004c.jpg I used just the red channel for the B&W photo, that gave a slight boost to the sky and separated the reds and greens on the ground nicely. I added some more contrast to the sky after getting rid of the colors. Photoshop is grand indeed :). |
photoshop rocks & i still only use about maybe 25% of what it's capable of.
*continues to slowly learn* beautiful place where you shot that! |
