North Cascades National Park

I just got back from a 5 day backpacking trip in the North Cascades National Park. Fall was just beginning to hit and the colors were amazing. Took a ton of pictures with my (fairly new) Canon A70. Here are a few:

These really are beautiful photos of a beautiful place. Is this near Grand Tetons? Or am I way off base? I don't remember a Natn'l Park by that name.

The North Cascades National Park is by far the least used national park in the northwest. That might be because the mountains are so jagged (they are some of the youngest in the world) and the glaciers so numerous (60% of the glacial cover in the continental 48 is in this park), it's really hard to get to. I had to hike 4.5 miles over a pass just to get in to the park boundary. You ain't gonna see any RV's camping out here.

It's located on the northern border of Washington State. And it's got to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Hmm...no linky linky, huh.. okay, pic 10

This one is the best in my opinion. The log draws the eye to the top of the photo where you find the mountains. Then, the peaks point you to the sky.

Thanks for posting!

I have many great memories from hiking the North Cascades twenty years ago. How I wish I'd had my digital cam back then. I now live 50 miles east but bad bones ended my back-packing days. Your pictures about brought tears to my eyes. When you go back, visit the southern lakes. Dagger, McCalister, Rainbow. I even had a good time spending 18 hours in the tent during a rain storm in 1983. Great pictures.

Regards
