Yaquina Head Lighthouse
These have only minor adjustments to contrast and brightness. The sky was changing rapidly that morning.

Yeah buddy, you really nailed this bunch. Strong yet simple compositions usually lead to great stories. Waited for some good light and got some cool fog.
I think you might be trying to show a little too much in number four though, and even your camera agrees by not giving you the exposure range that your eye saw. Looks like a nice place for a vacation, love to come out and visit that neighborhood sometime soon. |

they all look awesome! first and second are great because the sky looks like a rocky shoreline (fitting for a lighthouse). The third one needs no explanation, and the fourth one has great craggy rock croppings, an awesome bold shadow that makes the shore look like a cliff, and a lone seagull for the lighthouse lonliness effect! good work

Thanks for the compliments. The third pic seems to be the most popular with everyone. I find the reactions to #4 interesting, because it is just that strong response with the dark foreground that I was going for. It is sort of a paradox to me -- high contrast on an overcast day. The sun was slanting in under the clouds and the light had this really creepy, but beautiful effect. P.J. you are welcome to come for a visit anytime.

ooooh these are nice.
the 2nd on resembles an andrew wyeth painting. the 3rd is nice with the beam shining through the foggy night air. maybe use the clone tool to get rid of that dark bottom left corner... ? the 4th is wonderful. : ) maybe crop off 40% of the left side (resulting in a vertical composition) & perhaps spike the contrast & saturation just a smidge more... ?

I love lighthouses, so seeing pics of one I haven't seen yet are a treat.
Thanks for putting these up
