wow - where the heck have I been that I missed this thread?! Some INCREDIBLE shots you've got! You should try to sell some to travel agencies to use in tourism brochures for Florida

Thanks for everyone's kind comments and the photos that they have shared, also. Someone sip a beer for me, as I'm driving into the jaws of minimal Tropical Storm Henri this morning on my way to a convention in Tampa. Looking at the radar, it is raining more, here, than it is up there. Here's another sunrise photo. Doesn't look like I will see any for the next day or two. ;-)

Hey TD. Went out to Bokeelia last time I was down for dinner at that little place right across from that pier. Got a couple sunset shots. Colors were just ok. Man, you've been hitting them at the perfect time, your photos are spectacular.

When you focus on something, everything 1/3 in fron to 2/3 behind is in focus. So instead of focusing on infinity and wasting the 2/3 that is behind infinity (impossible) just focus on something 1/3 out to infinity. Then you can maximize your depth of field.

Stunning! I'm amazed at how beautiful these pictures are! I love the ones where they sky is on fire. This makes me want to get up and enjoy the sunrises much more often.

Some info to impress your friends with next time the Sun rises or sets:
Although you've surely seen it, you might not have noticed it. During a cloudless twilight, just before sunrise or after sunset, part of the atmosphere above the horizon appears slightly off-color, slightly pink. Called the Belt of Venus, this off-color band between the dark eclipsed sky and the blue sky can be seen in nearly every direction including that opposite the Sun. Straight above, blue sky is normal sunlight reflecting off the atmosphere. In the Belt of Venus, however, the atmosphere reflects light from the setting (or rising) Sun which appears more red. The Belt of Venus can be seen from any location with a clear horizon. Taken from: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap031021.html

yeah, the lake at Sebring photos are my favourites so far! I would definitely have either as posters on my wall.
the USS Enterprise is very cool too, as is the LA sky with power lines .. I think having something in foreground helps set off the background. Especially if it's in near-silhouette.

Believe me, if I knew what to do, and really thought my photos were THAT great (which they aren't, but thanks, anyway ), I'd love to try. Anything to get me out of the business I am in, now.

Here's a quick shot that I took last nite on my way home from working late. I had to stop by a customers and it was about 20 minutes before sunset and I was less than a mile from our local pier and as always, I had my camera with me, so....
