I can do that, if that's cool. I thought the pics might be too big, and the page would take a bit of time to load up (for those still on dial-up, for example)

I thought the last pic was MMG w one of his progeny.

I am very struck by how this wonderful place is not Disneyfied. When the masses start trundling over the pathways by the hundreds of thousands a day I think some of the magic will disappear. Till then, treasure your lovely photos and the memory of such a series of quiet vistas MMG! A great series.

This pic was taken fairly close to the entrance, where the crowds tend to linger.

We were able to get some privacy due to the sheer size of the City- reportedly there are 9,000+ "rooms", so the deeper you go into the City, the fewer people you will encounter.

As far as being "Disneyfied", I understand there was a Starbucks coffee inside the City at one point, but was eventually eliminated, thankfully. :rolleyes:

I've been to the wall and the forbidden city as well.. amazing places, both of them. It's weird how being there changes the way you look at pictures of it so much!

Any pics to share? I'd love to see them, just as an additional perspective in this thread. :)
