I would love it on my wall..... |
when did ring post that? I missed it!
It is beautiful. Reminds me a little of a piece of silkscreen artwork that my grandmother had in her house in the '70s. And that is a compliment 'cause my Me-maw was cool. :p |
It was a the bottom of the last page.
Thanks for the compliments, you two. To all: Feel free to use the images I post here as you wish. |
These are some interesting fireworks shots.

Here's from my first (yet the only) flight to Scotland. Sadly, I didn't know how to take any sharp photos with the camera I had. All I have is blurry ones...

And on a bit of a sad note, check this out....... Kansas shop develops the last roll of Kodachrome, ever | DVICE Paul Simon may have begged Mama don't take my Kodachrome away in his 1973 ode to the legendary color slide film, but now the unthinkable has happened, and never again will you be able to get your Kodachrome film developed. On Thursday Dwayne's Photo in Parsons Kansas finally switched off the world's last remaining Kodachrome processing machine, after developing a roll with pictures of the shop and its staff shot by owner Dwayne Steinle just minutes earlier. Kodak ended the film's 74 year production run in 2009, and photographers from around the globe have been anxiously trying to get their final rolls in to Dwayne's before the deadline. One of the last customers was Jim DeNike, who delivered 1,580 rolls railroad pictures for developing at $9.98 per roll. He says he had to borrow money from his father's retirement account to help pay for the work. Unlike other color films such as Kodak's own Ektachrome, processing Kodachrome is an intensely complicated procedure that cannot be done at home. In addition to large and complex machinery, special dyes supplied by Kodak are needed during the process, and aficionados say that this is what endows it with such rich and vivid colors. Kodak made the last batch of the dyes last year, and Dwayne's has to crack open their one remaining can of blue to get the final rolls done on Thursday. While the fancy processing requirements undoubtedly played a part in its demise, it's pretty obvious that digital photography is the real culprit in the death of Kodachrome. Via New York Times |
yeah, I read about this. very sad. i love old kodachrome photos.
|
I only had about 850 slides. I had them scanned when I worked in a camera store, so I got the employee discount. I paid for it by selling my old Kodak projector and some slide trays to a customer, about $225.
I still have my Canon A1 and FD lens and my projector screen. Camera Kingston still sells and processes slide films, but the selection of films is dwindling. |
I appreciate how many of the photos here - and the whole idea of the thread - transcend (or better yet, completely ignore) technical considerations. I have always found technique to be the most boring part of aesthetics. Hence, I really like most of these shots. Great idea for a thread!

They no longer do the Main Street Electrical Parade here at Disneyland. They stopped it completely for a few years and sold all the lights, (I have one!) and then they brought it back at Disney's California Adventure. I find this odd as there is no "Main Street" in DCA.
Lots of stupid little changes that take away from the wonder of Disneyland have taken place in the last 5 years. |

These were taken with my phone. I liked the way the spotlight looked shining up on the underside of this plant.

I can see it too. It was a quite drunk fisherman lumbering after his less drunk friends who seemed intent on leaving him behind. LOL!

ghostly visions from our ghost walk, lol. we didn't see shit, but I got a couple of worthwhile shots. our guide was not succinct enough to tell a good ghost story.
