Good entry level HD camera?
Looking at this one now that it just popped up on my feed.
Nikon D3100: The First DSLR With Real Video Autofocus Been trying to get back in to photography forever, though I'm a complete nub. What do you think I should look for? |
By HD, you mean one that records HD video? If so, I've heard nothing but good things about the Canon t2i. The D3100 looks pretty good, but I haven't heard enough about the video mode's contrast-based autofocus to be sure. What kind of environment are you planning to shoot in?

I traded "up" from a D40 to the 3100...all I can say is I LOVE it.
Just like the D40 it feels right in my hand, and is very easy to use. I don't do video so I have no idea about that. If you "shop around" you can find USA models for about $625. ( I like "stuff" that doesn't require you to RTFM) |
A lot of people feel that at the entry level, you can't go too wrong with either Canon or Nikon..just be prepared to lock into a system either way if you start collecting multiple lenses. The D3100 and the t2i are quite well-regarded.
