The textures of corrosion are mesmerizing.

thank you, gg, seems to be an ongoing theme with me lately...decay and corrosion. I love the abstraction and the beauty of it when you look close. :)

Stunning colors, rust never lets down.

Where was (is) the boxcar? I am sure that there is a story on why it is there. |
It was parked outside of our local library.
The boxcar is owned by the local Holocaust museum and from the postings on the door was acquired by them recently. I assume they are touring it around the area (to schools and libraries and such) to raise awareness. And it's pretty effective that way - standing inside you can't help but imagine what it must have been like, esp. as a parent. Otherwise, I don't know a lot about it. :) |
Excellent work. Love the colors and textures. :)

Thank you very very much, fnaqzna. :)

Sadly beautiful. Did you take any photos inside the box car?
|
no, the only time I had the opportunity to go inside I didn't have my camera with me...plus, it was at night. Standing inside made it very easy to project myself into that horrific situation, though. It's much more effective than reading stories or looking at photos from the Holocaust, which is probably the point.

This is a significant series, mixedmedia. Thanks.
In a very real way, we are "outside" the abominable reality of this massive object. We see its deterioration in time. And it is all strangely beautiful. We are farther and farther from the "inside" of the experience. Locked up. Sealed away. Time is good for something, after all. |
this one popped out at me........very nice shots mixed.
