The beauty of winter.
It's mid October and I live in Canada, so I need to face what's coming, especially since there was snow in the valley (a 90 minute drive from where I live) last night. Winter is my least favorite season, but I wouldn't want to live without it. No bugs...how can that be bad! And downhill skiing; can't do that without snow.
These pictures show the beauty of a Nova Scotia winter. Anybody want to share what winter looks like in their part of the world?http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...ary2008053.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...mas2006022.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...ter2007012.jpghttp://i562.photobucket.com/albums/s...Edithsbarn.jpg The barn photo is posted with permission from my artist friend, Jean Fraser. She found beauty through a frosty window that day and is constantly creating beauty out of silver, antique ivory and semi-precious stones. I love her creativity. |
Nice pictures.
Looking forward to the first storm myself. Fresh snow/ice makes for some pretty pictures. |
Beautiful! I am in love with that shot of the patch of grass frozen in ice. Nice!
|
Those are some great pics.

Thanks for sharing these, seamaiden! Nice work!

Great photos! I never really liked winter all that much though, it was great during the first big storm of the year but after that I just got sick of it and wanted some warm sun. And is there anything worse then shoveling your driveway at 4am because you have to get to work?
Hahah anyway love the photos though they make me think of home...and surprisingly at this very moment I'm actually missing winter...whadda know.... Thanks for posting those. :) |
Very beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing.
I love to visit the snow, I am very glad I don't live in it. |
I don't like driving on slippery roads, but I love experiencing all four seasons every year. There's always something to look forward to in each one.
|
That is the worst seamaiden, for me not so much for my own driving but how careless others around you can be.
I hear you about the 4 seasons...but at this point in my life I think I'll settle on 3 :D I do like winter but I just didn't like it dragging on for so long, some years it just seemed unending. On the other hand their is little in this world as beautiful as a fresh blanket of snow on a winter morning morning. |
I missed this beautiful thread somehow. Nova Scotia is drop-dead-gorgeous. You have a very good eye for photography too...great thread, seamaiden. We haven't had any snow down here in North Carolina...not yet anyway....and, for the record, i love love love snow!

I've got some winter pics from a few years ago in Minneapolis...not as nice as yours but it adds to the theme!

Hey! A shoe tree....there's one of those on the highway to Lunnenberg, in Nova Scotia. Not quite sure why?
