I like the first one featured, and even better that I got to finish the grafitttic poem in the second photo.
(though, the above took me about a minute to read what amounts to two real sentences, so my Spanish is really rusty.) -------------------------- http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kr...pwi0o1_500.jpg Rene Gagnon culture jams Planet Aid donation boxes. “These days it seems shoes and clothes just aren’t enough anymore,” says Rene. Peaches by BANKSY

image credit to Banksy Asked about his technique, Banksy said:“I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl’s face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key.” Oh, wait! Maybe we should start by explaining who the heck is Banksy first of all? Quote:

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ky...fu4to1_500.jpg I know that I have now garnered multiple sources and cornucopias for new, relevant and interesting pieces marked as 'graffitic', but I don't know why whenever I see something, and right under it, it states 'Banksy', I just feel compelled to share. Must be the recency effect. |
I don't have much love for the shouts/namecalls/whatever they're called, but I love the (in my eyes) more artistic stuff. This one was a prime example:
http://10.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kv...4pypo1_500.jpg Most of the street art I like in my city is of the stenciled type - I enjoy the simplistic/stylistic choices that arise from it (Banksy is a prime example). Will post if I take any pictures of them :) |

Great stuff! It really lightens my day when creativity is loosed in the concrete jungle like that :)

An afternoon with Julian Guzman aka Skript
the thoughts, creations and workspace of a Bostonian graffiti artist (tagger):
Julian Guzman (Skript) was one of the first people I met when I moved to Boston two years ago. I knew he had an interest in art, because we always talked about it, but I didn’t know at first that he was an artist himself. I was surprised when I first saw his work. For someone so easy-going and humble, his work is strong, sometimes serious, and always expresses his point of view. Julian has been very busy in the last year, with a solo show at Chorus Gallery, group shows at The Savant Project, The Good Life, Technical Skate Shop, Lab Boston, and live painting at Proletariat. When I asked him what he’s planning next, he told me he has been using more light hearted subject matter to have fun with his pieces. These are some pictures from a recent visit I made to Julian’s studio to check out some of his new work. http://i44.tinypic.com/2z8xmr6.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/20peu8p.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/2czassy.jpg http://i40.tinypic.com/33ou0if.jpg http://i39.tinypic.com/255pg8x.jpg Detail of piece "Colorful Past". http://i42.tinypic.com/2ltkb4n.jpg "Colorful Past" Laser etched into Museum Board. 12" x 24". http://i40.tinypic.com/16itssm.jpg "The Hopeful Optimist" Laser etched Museum Board. 12" x 24" http://i42.tinypic.com/1zb9u0h.jpg "Futures" Krink and Montana on 18" x 18" canvas. http://i43.tinypic.com/4r297k.jpg "Futures" Krink and Montana on 18" x 18" canvas (coloured) http://i43.tinypic.com/2drhtuf.jpg "Robot Love" - submission for the I... this might actually be more of an example of "street art" in my mind, because I'd think that this could in no way have formed overnight, and might actually have been commissioned, (as opposed to done illegally without permission) or just simply "allowed to be" created as a wall mural. Anyway:

not as much a 'real graffiti' shot, as it is an image example of 'a girl gracing graffiti' photo, but still thought it nice (maybe because of the combo?). |
excerpts from the "Threshold" series
