Chinese New Year - A Few From Flushing
 

A few snaps from Flushing Queens last Sunday. Went on a photowalk with a friend and wound up shooting a rather small Chinese New Year Celebration. Two dragons were blessing some of the stores on Main Street - made for quite the sight. The others are from random things I saw while in the neighborhood.

All shot with a Nikon D80 + 18-55mm Kit Lens. Forgive the watermarks.

I'm still working on a few shots of Shea stadium in the process of being demolished. It was quite the sight.

Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Nice work as always, Manic. I'd like to see those first two in vibrant colors, though. Somehow, in black and white they seem a little too distracting.

And yeah, hurry up and get those Shea Stadium shots up.

Thanks JJ. The dragons really were quite cute in full color but I felt like they had to fight too many other colorful jackets and signs. I'll work 'em over again and see what I can come up with.

These are all fantastic and the first shot in black and white is my favorite of the set. Just goes to show how subjective it all is...

PS I really like the one with the bikes. I'm always most impressed by a pic that can take the everyday and make it look so interesting

Yeah it's quite the process. I could explain if you'd like but the saturation of the colors and their individual qualities have been tweaked quite a bit.
