Are you on flickr?

I did a search on the forum and couldn't find a thread on the subject.

Are you on flickr? Lets share photos!

my flickr is

Flickr: TrentChau's Photostream

If you friend me, be sure to send a message saying your from the TFP. Sadly I get a lot of hits, and try to keep things filtered for my models sake.

What's yours?

I'm there. I've been following your stream for quite some time now.

mixedmedia 12-31-2008 05:07 AM

I just sent you a friend request...I think. Been on flickr a couple of years now and I still only know how to upload and organize photos...

Oh what the hell... here's mine.

Speed_Gibson 12-31-2008 01:51 PM

just curious, what measures are there to prevent people stealing pictures?
Not that anyone would ever care that much about my work or current sites in the first place, but I still watermark everything that I post on my gallery.

mixedmedia 12-31-2008 03:28 PM

There are security measures one can use to prevent their pictures from being downloaded. Personally, I don't use them. It doesn't bother me if people use my pictures. I use other people's images for stuff all the time, I figure it's only fair.

Manic_Skafe 12-31-2008 03:36 PM

I'm on flickr as well.

cheers.

And I don't care so much about someone using my photos for their own personal use so I really don't go too crazy with the flickr security features. However, I do resize my photos so they upload quickly and can't be enlarged or printed without a noticeable loss in quality.

I'm pretty much in all the way on Creative Commons. With few exceptions I post full resolution images.

Maybe someday I'll be good enough to worry about such things. Right now, not so much.

Yeah, I've noticed that for quite some time now and forgive me for saying this but have you been hit on the head or something? I love your photos - quit your dayjob already.

No shit. I thought you were a professional photographer, uh, sandman. Your photographs are breathtaking.

And Manic, your photos are very inspiring. I enjoyed looking through your shots last night. That one on the front page of the brahma bulls is awesome!

Thank you both, but I'm just an amateur. Not sure I'll ever get serious about it.

Trent is the real talent. Stunning work.

Don't watermark, if someone's interested enough, they'll take it off.
Save your images at about the medium size and at a lower rez-if you have PS, you can "save for web" which reduces the weight and eliminates data. Do that at medium jpg and anyone trying to take and print will get crappy results, but they'll look fine in the site.
My Flickr
But my better stuff is on my own site.

freeload 01-01-2009 11:08 AM

On flickr I'm most certainly unknown under the alias "bogotrip" - have been there for ages, but have just started putting my photos online. At the moment at picasaweb, but are hoping to build a small "portfolio" during this january.

Speed_Gibson 01-01-2009 09:47 PM

my concern is not people stealing my pictures for backgrounds or mostly crappy fark PS creations, more about giving cleary visible information on the source. I used the PS tutorial in a GIMP modified form linked in the sticky in this section for mine.
The JPEG quality slider is cranked down (no idea how closely PS corresponds there) until a file size of <100k is achieved with an adequate but not stellar look. If anyone ever wanted a good/full resolution copy they could contact me, which will never happen I expect.

So far I have chosen to be completely unknown on my own domain rather than the same state on Flickr, but I have considered it and admired many pictures on there.

yep i'm over here: Flickr: theemoemu's Photostream

does anyone have a pro account? is it worth it? i've almost hit my limit... they apparently only show 200 pictures at a time with a free account...

what the hell, i had no idea fellow tfpers were such talented photographers!!

mixedmedia 01-06-2009 09:26 AM

I have a pro account and it is definitely worth it.

It's been a while since I added anything. I've been pretty busy. If anyone wants to buy me a 12MP digital SLR to inspire me, I'm game.

Here's a cheap alternative.

Two years ago, I bought a D50. I've really been eyeballing D90s and D300s lately.

ngdawg 01-06-2009 06:08 PM

Not to steal Flickr's thunder, but I was introduced to another site, Zenfolio, that makes a webpage of your images. Very nicely done too. Thinking of buying into it, but taking the 14 day trial first to see how many hits I get.(No, that is not an invite or challenge to do so)

Looks promising. If I were serious, I'd probably give it a go.

Dammitall 01-06-2009 08:29 PM

Unless I missed anyone, I've added all of you as contacts to my Flickr account.

Yay!

fiatguy85 01-06-2009 09:40 PM

nettuno 01-08-2009 08:59 PM

Magpie_1 01-09-2009 08:10 PM

I'm attempting to cash in on my impending college graduation by convincing one of my patrons to go in on a dslr with me. I have a few Minolta lenses left over from the last time I was really into photography, so I'm fixing to get an Alpha A700.

Rainman_oz 03-16-2009 05:04 AM

Nope, is it any good?

Good choice. Canon went to a CMOS sensor a while ago. It's a much better image sensor than the traditional CCD. Nikon is just now catching up. They're using the CMOS in the D300 and D90. You can get away with a much higher ISO because theres so much less noise. Also, you can take much longer exposures. (and you can use your D50 lenses)

Thread-jack over...

I'm on flickr too but I can't post a link or pictures yet.

Wow. There is some awesome talent here.

Lucifer 01-18-2010 01:59 PM

I'm on as Peter_Pasha. I haven't been using my flickr account for much at all, but I think I'll start scanning old prints and posting them.

motdakasha 03-13-2010 10:48 AM

Yes, but I don't usually post to flickr after they decided it was cool to sell a commercial plugin for companies to use flickr photo streams for stock photos and profit off of users without their consent.

Xerxys 03-13-2010 11:18 AM

^^ Blast from the past.

Had a flickr account. Not creative enough to create my own material. Shut down by flickr. Left with middle finger in air.
