You just made me a little homesick. Some of those could easily have been taken in my home state of Pennsylvania. Y'know...the funny thing is that I actually grew up in that kind of beauty, and took it all for granted. It wasn't until I visited "home" several years ago, that I realized that..."Hey! This is some damned beatiful countryside. Why didn't I ever see that before?"
It might be time again for another trip back east.

Yeah, wow... these all look so much like central Pennsylvania. Even that first bridge shot looks exactly like the bridge in Harrisburg... go figure.
I LOVE the colors... thank you so much for sharing these. I am really missing autumn colors this year, as it's my second fall in Iceland and it's just not the same up here (no trees, for one thing!). Just gorgeous views... can't wait to get back to some deciduousity.

These are all around the area about 100 miles north of NYC near the Hudson River. The bridge crosses one of the large NYC reservoirs that are in the area. These few weeks are probably about the best time of year around here with all the color and the comfortable weather. I have a few more I need to look at from yesterday. I'll probably post a couple more. -----Added 21/10/2008 at 08 : 34 : 27----- Three more Last edited by dogzilla; 10-21-2008 at 04:34 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Are the OP pics from upstate? Some shots look very familiar. The bridge shot was breathtaking, literally. I gasped when I saw it.

Just realized, there are two bridge pictures. The first is the Ashokan Reservoir bridge, the second is the Mid-Hudson bridge in Poughkeepsie |

One more set from today. The color peak is now 20-30 miles south of me, so this is about it for around here. I might be in N.E. Pennsylvania or N.W. New Jersey this weekend and find a few more spots.
A swan in a small pond just north of Newburgh, NY A reflection of the trees in the same pond Hudson river and mountains in Hudson Highlands region. This is from Mt. Beacon in Beacon, NY, near the top of an old cog railroad run. This is a fairly tough 1 mile hike that climbs something like 1000 ft in 1 mile. East coast trailbuilders don't seem to have heard of switchbacks. City of Beacon, NY and Newbugh-Beacon (I-84) bridge from Mt. Beacon Covered bridge about 10 miles north of New Paltz, Ny |

I'm very jealous, thanks to an early hard freeze we got almost zero color in NE Ohio this year (many years I feel we rival Vermont for fall foliage). I would say 90+% of the Cuyahoga valley looks like this photo you took:
I'm really kind of bummed because I finally broke down and bought a good DSLR earlier this year for my vacation to Yellowstone and was hoping to get some nice fall shots. I guess now I have to hope for good snow and ice pics =) |

Did you wait long enough? Have all the leaves fallen without turning? We had great colours here. The leaves are gone now. These were taken last month.
