Mohonk Mountain House
 

These are a couple pictures of the Mohonk Mountain House, which is a fairly well known hotel/resort in the Shawangunk Mountains near New Paltz, NY

Not my cup of tea, but my parents spent the weekend up there with another couple last year or the year before and she wouldn't shut up about the place for a week.

Even having seen other pictures of the place, I had no idea it was so secluded!

That reminds me of the hotel in The Shining. Not sure I can stay in a place like that after seeing the movie.

If you like to bicycle and have a trail bike, there's wonderful paths for riding out in the woods.

Or if you go in the winter they make great cross country ski trails.

It's a wonderful place and worth the trip, even if you just go for the day.

There's quite a few hiking trails on the grounds too. When I was there for the day, I spent most of the time hiking the trails

Fall foliage season is just about here, so it should be quite pretty in a couple weeks with all the colors.

The place is pretty secluded, as is Minnewaska state park a few miles away. The whole mountaintop is pretty much forest with just hiking trials and no real development
