Insects in close up - macro shots
I like taking such shots. Please post if you have taken any such recently

These are not very good shots at all, but they are all that I have. I'm a bit of a girl when it comes to insects.

Ranger, I'm sure it was big, but theres no way to tell there. Was it the size of a quarter? pen cap? cookie? etc.

My husband has taken some great ones of butterflies, maybe I'll convince him to post some. |

Strictly speaking, not a macro, as I took it with a 300mm lens fully zoomed (hand held!), but the effect is very similar. I think I had two filters on it to be able to open the apeture wide enough to get any kind of DOF blur. I wish it was sharper, but I was doing manual focus, and this was the best of the bunch. |
I found this guy during my Canada Day adventures.

Well I suppose I shall share a few of my own then.
The Dragonfly was taken in the summer in Calgary, and the Butterfly was taken a few days ago in Cuba. http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9...tterflywi7.jpg http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/c...jpg/1/w600.png http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/2...gglargezo4.jpg http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/b...pg/1/w1024.png |
This, I think, is a banana spider. It was in my dad's frontyard between two trees. Chiefland, FL.
