The Zoo
We've had as many as four "official" pets at one time (we were on the board at the local humane society and had many temporary visitors). Seeing the pics of Noelle reminded me that I have some stored away. I certainly don't mean to turn this into lolcats or a "post your pet" forum, so feel free to tell me how bad my skills are.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3255/...6990b163_m.jpg This is Race, a "temp". He was so nervous at first, but by the end of the week, he loooooved me. He now lives in a big house with a large backyard. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2346/...a35accc1_m.jpg Zoey Mystic, started out as a foster cat, ended up adopting. She's a TV star. She's been on the local news twice. She is mostly blind. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3080/...e82b72d2_m.jpg Stella Berne, was running around a trailer park with her mother, eating out of the garbage and generally being a mutt. Adopted from a kill shelter. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3002/...0e553459_m.jpg The one that started it all, Lily Nantucket. Our first pet as a couple. Adopted from the same kill shelter as Berne. It took three baths to find out her fur is white. Then we found out she had heartworms. After a couple thousand dollars in treatments, we've officially created a purebreed for her. She is an Alpine Terrier. I'm not going to spend thousands on some common yard dog. |
Here's a photo of Oreo, my male black cat and only pet. He's approximately 7 years old and I've had him since he was a kitten, picked up at a farm in the country from a litter of three. :)

Gabby looks like total trouble.
The director of the humane society we were board members on names all of her pets (all rescue beagles) after Star Wars characters. One is known as "Jedi". Oreo is one handsome cat. |
Katyanna, Chewy looks like my parents' dog, Jack. He's a Lab mix, half Lab, half Greyhound.
Here are my two troublemakers, mere moments ago: http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...ing-around.jpg http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/members...e-sleeping.jpg |

onesnowyowl: Perhaps it is the angle of the pictures, he is definitely 100% lab. Your orange cat looks like he is considering something devious. |
At poppinjay's suggestion...
Meet Gabe (short for Gabriel) http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a25...g?t=1219790821 He's four years old, one year since we "rescued" him. It's rather interesting, living with a deaf dog, but he's a good boy, and we love him. Fun Fact: The same gene that gives him his gorgeous harlequin markings caused him to be born deaf. Blindness is another common related trait. Most Danes have brown eyes. Gabe's are sky blue, with star burst shaped pupils... another indication of potential vision problems as he ages. This would be a tragedy, as he is very visually oriented. Yes, he "owns" that sofa! |
