Homework for the masses
 

Hopefully, our wonderful photographers can come through with their interpretations.
The assignment is this.
I've found out a couple things while doing this. 1) Tripod is a necessity otherwise the blur doesn't look controlled. 2) Contrasty colors have, for me, worked best; yellow in sunshine comes out white, for instance.
Here's mine so far that seemed to work. I'm going to keep trying. Getting the zoom to match the shutter speed takes a little practice. Too fast and there's no detail but too slow and it just looks like the camera shook a little.

What zoom range are you using here? Are you maxing out your lens or just giving it a little turn? It seems like the 18-55 doesn't give enough of an effect, and the 75-300 has so much range it just looks like two pictures superimposed. I will continue to experiment.

Not very much range, really. The lens used is a Sigma 28-200mm and I didn't pay attention to where I started, but no more than half way extended and a full turn in back to 28mm.
For the hydrangea, the shutter was at 1/3sec with f29. Both petunias were 1/2 sec, also at f29.
