Sunset
As some of you may know, I live in Indiana, and lately the midwest has been hit pretty hard with storms.
Last night we got another round starting right before sunset, and then got a little break right in time for the sun to go down. Normally, there is nowhere to go to get a good picture of the sunset, which is heartbreaking. But, last night, all of the ominous clouds mixed in with the oranges that the sun was giving off, made an excellent photo op. This is what I captured: On a side note, I have a wedding I have to shoot in September. I'm not quite sure why I was picked, other than the girl knows me and knows I'm cheap. =P So, I'm looking into BORROWING a dslr for the wedding. I just don't feel like my camera is going to capture her big day that well. Does anyone know of any bartering sites? Or even cheap rental sites? |

Lovely silhouettes all around but the second to last is my favorite. Nicely framed.
And as for the wedding, I don't know of any sites through which you could rent gear but I'd imagine you'd be much better off borrowing from a local shop so that you can at least ensure that all your equipment will work.

Very nice.
and, I like power lines...in fact, I look for shots with intersecting power lines. Key West is awesome for that, because all of their lines power, telephone, cable everything are above ground. And I know nothing about renting cameras, I didn't even know you could do that, but I'd call your local camera shop and see if they have any tips for you.

hehe i´ll have to ask my friend for some of her pics of mongolia. the theme was powerlines since there was not a single photo where there weren´t any. in fact she showed me a pic with 37 (thirty seven) power poles in it....

fnaqzna is spot-on, weddings are incredibly difficult to shoot. I shot my brother's wedding last December and I was sure as hell glad by the end of the night that he hired a professional who actually knew what he was doing.
If you have to rent then make sure you do so at least a day in advance so you can check out all the gear for defects or quirks. Which set-up are you using if you don't mind my asking?
