Pre-Prom Shoot
 

Now that that's out of the way, my mom's best friend (who is like an aunt to me... known her all my life) had a daughter 18 or so years ago. The other night, that daughter went to her senior prom and I was asked to take pictures. The conditions sucked (mottled clouds), the area sucked (neighborhood, no clean backgrounds) and I wasn't nearly prepared enough... but I got some shots that I think they'll love. Let me know what you think!

Just noticed that some have a little artifacting from JPEG compression. The prints themselves do not have that, obviously!

Other than the white of her dress being blown out, they're nice.

yeah, the blown out portions were caused by the crappy conditions and I couldn't get the levels right. Either the whites were blown out or the shadows too deep. Ugh! I need to get my 580EX working right again! Fill flash is so useful...

They're all great but that last shot is stellar. The black & white really does it justice.

I am usually not a big fan of b/w photos but that last shot was quite good. A definate keeper.

My minds in the gutter this morning... I read the thread as pre-porn shoot. So not what I was expecting but they are great shots.

So many folks here have such talent. For the most part I put my camera on auto, click and hope for the best.

I read it as "Pre-prom shooting" (i.e. some massacre somewhere), which is quite a lot worse :(
