I've passed this condemned and dilapidated house a few times and I've always wanted to get a few decent shots of it but the conditions either weren't right or the atmosphere was just far too creepy. After working up some courage, here is my best effort. Thanks for looking. Comments and critiques are appreciated.

Creepy is definitely the word.

Pretty cool. I like the b/w.
I took some pictures of a old gothic architecture style house once for my architecture class I was taking at the time. It wasn't until i had the pics developed that I saw a figure behind the sheer curtains in one of the windows watching me. Now THAT was creepy.

The last two are really interesting to me. Viewing through a fence... a forbidden and forgotten place.

Thanks, guys. It's just a shame there isn't any way I could photograph the smell wafting from this place - it wasn't so bad from the side angle shots but I took about 15 or so through that fence and thought I was dying.

I think they're beautiful. Very evocative.

The things we do for the sake of art.

If it's any consolation to you, the fence shot is easily the best of the lot.

I would like to see the really creepy pictures. I think they are nice.

My friend, whom has careers in art and photography, has this to say.
Quote:
Your photography is great. Your first photo has a great balance of black and white. You have amazing levels in the photo. You did however crop off the front of the house for no reason. That would strike me as being an important element of the picture. Why not take the whole thing from the ground or make it more interesting and take it from a tree?

Your last photo was good because that is a difficult shot to handle; it is quite difficult to keep the fence in focus and maintain some clarity of the front of the house.

However, it is just a house, what is to hold my interest?

I mean, this is me giving a tough critique, otherwise I would have just said, "They are nice." You obviously want some advice for improvement so this is mine. I do recommend you take a class in photography as you would probably excel in it.
She also said you have a good high ISO.

[I take photos as an artificial memory of events and places. Their quality need only be enough for me to go, "Oh wow I was there and I did this and that."]

Thank you Mixed Media and Martian for always having nice things to say.

Augi, as a full time dead-end jobber, photo major and someone who's trying to do this professionally - I can't express enough how much I appreciate the comments and the critique.

And as for the crop, most of the house is fenced and the fence is backed with a black tarp. So there are very few angles to shoot from and it was pretty much impossible to get the whole house in the shot without a hulking eyesore of a hotel behind the house. Check out the eyesore.

And if anyone is interested here is my Flickr.

Thanks guys.

Nice. I really love your eye. Partly 'cause I see some of myself in it.

I noticed your picture of one of the many wooden boardwalks leading to the beach in Titusville. I've been there taking pictures many times!
