me and my mommy visit the Phila. Flower Show NSFW

Now Showing Flowery Works

Every year for the last few, I take my mom to the Philadelphia Flower Show, we both love flowers. She still gets around fine at age 85, I hope I can get around about that well when I'm 85 or 100. Anyway, here's some pics I took, some not so good but I'm posting them anyway, the worst have been edited out. The cute elderly person with the whitish hair and redish coat is my mom, not me.

Actually, I took this pic after I dropped her off and was driving home, but since the flower show is at the PA Convention Center I figure it fits here:

This title page applies to the next photo. That little bonzai is older than my mom!!!

In spite of having grown up around lots of Polacks and eaten a lot of good Polish foods, I thought perogies were made by people but apparently they grow on a bush:

This reminds me that the theme seemed to be music, jazz, and especially New Orleans influenced music and scenes

The next two shots are the inside of what used to be the Reading Terminal, the Reading Railroad terminal where as a kid, I used to hop on trains, now it's part of the convention center

They kept the steel tracks/rails in the floor as part of the historic preservation, you can kind of see them here

A gratuitous shot of the Philadelphia skylne from Belmont Hills Plateau, I stopped to look on my way home

Cool pics!

Although having the words "my mommy" and "NSFW" in the title is a bit worrying at first
Nice to see the Philly skyline again...

thanks, folks. hmmmm, I put this into the "nonsense" section but some astute mod elevated it to the honored stature of tilted photography ...I'm honored that it's not in politics.

ktspktsp,
I see ....or iceee that you're in Iceland, but were you in Philly for a while? Yes, that nsfw was a nonesense idea I had of which I have many, and as you see to me it means "now showing flowery works" plus I thought it was a good way to discourage democrats and republicans from looking at my thread.

Thanks, jewels. You're a flower. Don't you live in Florida? Seems that could be a full time flower show outside.

It would seem so, but we do get bored and miss the pretty stuff that can't thrive in the heat and humidity down here. I miss the real dirt.

Hey, no pics allowed of people over age eighty--oh wait, under eightEEN, fine.

Your mom is cute, and that's really kind of you take her to such a beautiful event every year. My grandma loved the tulip festival in Washington State, which we tried to take her to every year, too.

And yeah, I echo ktspktsp on the nice Philly skyline... been a year since we saw that, and it had become almost like home for us by then.

Yup, spent 5 years in PA, including two in West Chester. So we often drove to Philly. I could really use a visit to Monk's or Eulogy right now...

ahhhh, we're planning a company trip to Monk's very soon. The guys are going down to suck up some Belgian beers. After everybody has a few, I'll propose a toast to my buddy ktspktsp from Iceland

Glad you like it, thanks for checking it out, everybody.

bobby, I'm glad the "nsfw" tag didn't keep you out of this thread
In that miniature you like, I can just picture Marlon Brando standing in the courtyard screeming "STELLA!!!" ...the New Orleans theme of the show made me recall those scenes as I was strolling around.
