Photos in the Carolinian Smokies (and a couple bonus So. Fl.)
Well I'm still up here in North Carolina and have been taking pictures whenever I can. Here are the ones I've been able to edit thus far, plus some I never got around to uploading from a trip to Key West.
As I take more, I will continue to place them in this thread. I had to downsize some photos especially much to make them fit on photobucket, but oh well, I still feel they're presentable. Stick with it, I promise the pictures get better near the end! OK, Day 1 It was raining right before we got there, so I couldn't resist the urge to take some pictures of the water drops: Then we went to the nearby golf course to throw the ball for my dog. Here you see my dog and my mother: Day 2 I woke up and decided to take a walk and take some pictures, nothing spectacular. Some pretty lighting on a golf cart path: A patch of ferns I thought was nice and quaint: Shot of the golf course...not a great photo, but I like the composition: Day 4 Ah, July 4th. We took a hike up a mountain...it was really shady and I didn't bring the tripod, so there weren't many great photo ops...but here are a couple documentary ones. In it is my brother and my dog: However, I did get to take some nice glam shots of the dog at the top: Day 6 I woke up early and went to a local stream that I have gone to since I was a kid. Not a great photo, but I thought it was cool how you can see the water moving at different speeds further away: Thought this one was pretty nice: I liked how the water looked going around the log: Thought this was pretty, the water flowing under the blooming rhododendrons: I like this one, makes it look so tropical, and more jungly than it actually is: Day 8 Wasn't much opportunity for photos, until my aunt's dog, a Bishon, thought he could roll with mine....literally. He had a blast, but he got dirty...and the aunt wasn't exactly thrilled. Hate using the flash, but I needed to in this case...too much action, not enough light. Look at those eyes! Dog's cute, and I think the tap water looks pretty cool too. This is my favorite. Runner up: And ah, the blow drying! Day 9 Woke up at dawn to go to a waterfall nearby...some pretty nice pictures I thought. My favorite: Some others: Day 11 That's today, the 11th. I woke up at dawn again and went to an inn nearby with it's own lake. It was absolutely gorgeous. I am not done editing these yet, so will post more later. A watermill: View of the lake. I have just fallen absolutely in love with this photo, I don't know why. There you have it. I will post more later. And as promised, some from my trip to the Keys: |

Target-rich environment. Lots of interesting shots. You capture the ambience of the surroundings very nicely, I especially like the first shot, Day 11. There are a bunch that stand out, and for comedy, the dog getting water dumped over his head was a great shot, nice shutter speed. Well done.

Seriously, though, I'll look into prices and stuff. I might be interested. Where in the smokies were you? I live in Asheville right now, about 30 mins from the Great Smoky Mountains N'tl park. My friend works there, and I'm working at a bank near there for a few weeks. Just saw your other reply. Where is Cashiers? Never heard of it.

Really? It's pretty close to Asheville...same general neck of the woods, about an hour and a half into the mountains. Its at the intersection of state road 107 and I-64.
towns close by include highlands, franklin, and walhalla. It's very close to lake glenville if you've heard of that |

Hah...well im leaving tomorrow, but I haven't gotten sick of it yet. I've been coming since before I can remember, the mountains will always have a little part of me.
Coincidentally, I go to school in New Jersey, and always find myself getting sick of it. What exactly is it you miss about NJ? |
