More pics! (yes, with a sunset)
Constructive criticism is welcomed (I might not agree, but it's still welcome ).
I grabbed this one, because the ice formation on the pathway reminded me of a river. This one actually is a river. These two pics (above and below) are basically the same, but I kept the one above because somehow I managed to get some bright blues out of the surrounding shrubbery. Annnnnnnnnnd my obligatory sunset.

Quite over-exposed, all of them. Also it gets rather repetetive when you have 5 almost similar pictures in a row... maybe you could pick the best and fix the levels to get some shadows?

I agree that they're overexposed. Quite of bit of detail is lost in the trees and the skies. Here are some tips on how to fix overexposed images: http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tutorials/jennifer/fix-overexposed.html
I do like the composition of the shots. |

I'll just turn up the shutter speed next time. Thanks for the input though (although I was going for overexposed in the third one).

You could also try some channel mixer b/w for the first one. It looks like a good candidate for some testing
Maybe also for the first one, crop around 1/5-1/6th from the top (the sky is not so interesting, the ground is much more) and some from the left to move the pathway more off from center. This might work better compositionally. Yeah... about pictures with sky and ground: Usually, one of them is clearly not interesting so try to frame your picture while shooting so that you fill at least 2/3's of your frame with the interesting stuff. In this one, the sky was clearly more interesting, and the shrine on the bottom is on travel albums of 10M people... the sky is NOT that interesting, but the other choice was even worse

Alright, thanks. And I have to admit I did PS the first one a bit. It was very washed-out (like some of the others) to begin with. When you say "channel mixer b/w" that's referring to black&white?

It refers to that you create a new adjustment layer (channel mixer) and then you choose b&w from there.
Then you can adjust the individual RGB values (keeping the total to about 100%) to get the wanted effect. This effectively is the same thing as taking photos on b&w film and using colored filters (very common method to highlight greens etc...)
