Astrology

Is there any connection whatsoever between Religion and Astrology? Are people who are religious more or less inclined to also read their horoscopes regularly and believe in Tarot Cards and new-age 'sciences'?

I don't "believe" in Astrology
However, I do appreciate it's symbolism.

The broader, more general descriptions are enjoyable,
but I find that anytime it tries to become more specific,
the more inaccurate it gets.

The "romantic" in me says this is because the stars are so far & large,
how could they possibly pay attention to the details in life.

duckznutz,

My personal feeling is no.

I've seen very spiritual people go both ways on Astrology and other forms of divination, both believing/practicing and not.

Some religions, especially Christianity and Islam specifically discourage it, while others, such as wicca, actively incorporate it.

Lebell allready said it best about religions and there thoughts on astrology. So all I will add is my personal thoughts. Long ago when astrology was first invented people were staring up at the stars alot. Didn't have much to do. It was dark. Couldn't farm. Not real cities yet. Maybe they had a house. Maybe just a cave or something. The world was big and they had no idea what stars were. Maybe they were gods. Trying to tell them something. Since that time we have learned that they are burning balls of gas. Maybe a few planets too. Sometimes you can see mars and what not. We can predicate the future with them as much as we can predicate the future with an oak tree or an aligator or while jacking off.

i don't put as much into as some, but what i think is obvious reason i put a little into it.

think about this:

when the moon is full, people just act weird. chaos ensues, babies birth rate rises, animals migrate, sea tortises (sp) lay their eggs........

it makes us all act different..... now

think of it on a cosmo scale.

i don't think its something that can be read so simply as people put it... but i do know about some things people don't believe in, so that being said, somewhere, somehow what i don't believe is surely to be true.

as far as tarot goes..... i've never fucked with i but once, though i've been tempted.

Astrology and tarot are forms of divination, and not tied to any religious practice. Divination, in many forms, is a common practice of wiccans and other pagans, but it is not intrinsic to any belief system, as far as I know.

But a lot of people 'believe' what astrologers predict for their star sign . . . I agree that it is not a 'serious' belief but its interesting nonetheless . . . .

anything we do that steps over the boundary of natural phenomenon is a religous practice..... it just is, like it or not.
