Sick Baby
My kid os pnly 6 months old and has managed to get a nasty cold, my wife also has the cold. He is not sleeping well, fussy and crying alot, and it's starting to really get to me that there is nothing I can do that makes this kid happy.
as for as medicing goes, we have been using baby tylenol every 4 hours. any suggestions to help make his life a lil better right now? |

I found putting a few drops of peppermint oil in a cup or bowl of hot water (letting it infiltrate the air) helped my kids breathe better with colds. I still do it. It works awesome.
Mind you, at 6 months...its been a long time since my kids were that small. I cant really see it doing any harm. It could be your child is develpoing an ear infection. If the tylenol is the only thing that will stop the crying that is something to check out. The only other things I can think of off had is to boil some water, or use a vaporizer to humidify the air. Use some vicks on his/her chest. Hold the baby a lot. Babies are usually fussy when unwell & need more reassurance. It always hard when the kids are hurting or unwell and Mom or Dad can't make it all better. Makes us feel like a failed parent. Hang in there. We have all been there & it will pass. You'll get through fine. |

the shower idea would help alot, when our little girl (11 months) gets alittle stuffy we bath her using this gerber menthol baby bath. when we use it, it affects me as well so i know it helps my little one. smells fantastic as well. hope she feels better soon, mom as well!

Don't use meds except the tylenol, if doctor says ok. we used the little suction bulb, and removed whatever we could from the babies nose, if they can breathe better they are more content. Squeeze the bulb and insert into one nostril (not too far) and let the bulb suction suck out the mucus. Then do the other nostril. They don't really like it, but it helps alot.
