As a mother, Im gonna brag

I couldnt figure out the best place for this, but since its about something my daughter is doing I figured parenting was a better bet...

so... Im going to brag now

Im sure many of your cities (in the US anyway) has a form of Festival of Trees this time of year. Atlanta has been doing it since I was a child.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta: Festival of Trees

Festival of Trees

December 4-12, 2004
The Georgia World Congress Center
Exhibit Hall A-1

Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
Sundays, 12 noon - 6 p.m.

The Festival of Trees, Atlanta’s premier holiday event, benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Visitors can stroll through 154,000 square feet of decorated trees, wreaths and decorator vignettes created by the city’s top artists and designers. The Festival also features magnificent gingerbread houses, an assortment of specialty shops, a special venue of handmade dollhouses, and an array of children’s activities. Our main stage features continuous live entertainment and attracts people of all ages.

This extraordinary event has become a tradition of Atlanta’s holiday season while raising much needed money for quality services and facilities for children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Be sure to mark your calendars for this spectacular event for the whole family. You will not want to miss it!
Its a great fundraiser each year for Children's Hospital...

And Im proud to say that my 11 year old daughter will be dancing with her ballet/pointe group (yes she's so good she was put on pointe early) on a stage in front of hundreds of people tonite.

I'm so proud of her I could cry....and I know I will...everytime that child gets on a stage I use a box of kleenex. Thank god she doesnt have her mothers non-grace....I myself walk into a wall at least once a day

ShaniFaye 12-08-2004 04:44 AM

she did so good....I was so so proud...she did 3 dances in 30 minutes...lots of pictures I cant post here

Im exhausted though because we stayed so late but yes yellowchef it was absolutely beautiful...I just had to stay away from the honorary trees for some of the children's hospital patients....I cried every time I got near them.

yellowchef 12-08-2004 08:47 AM

shortynickel 12-14-2004 08:06 PM

shaggs_manoa 12-16-2004 02:28 AM

congrats...can't wait to get back to mainland where my little blondie will be included in dances like that. (Hawaii isn't the best place to be blond haired and blue eyed, hula troops don't exactly welcome you.)

pinkie 12-16-2004 06:17 AM

Aren't our kids amazing? This is really cool Shani, and you must be so very proud. My daughter is in ballet too, 2nd year. I cried at her first recital because she was so amazing, and so beautiful.

I'm sorry I missed this before.

That's a lot! You say she's in a more advanced level because she's so good?

ShaniFaye 12-16-2004 06:18 AM

Yeah they put her on Pointe this early this year when she was 10...2 years before they normally let one go on to that :)

pinkie 12-16-2004 06:43 AM

That's awesome. :D

roderickpsu 12-16-2004 07:31 PM

sexymama 12-20-2004 08:36 AM

Awesome job -- congrats to good parenting and to your daughter sharing her talents with others and using them for good purposes.

viejo gringo 12-21-2004 08:11 PM

you go girl----be a part of her life...

I know a lot of people say you should be a parent and not their best friend...but just remember, they only tell their best friends their closest secrets...they know you are their parent--prove you are their best friend---be there in everything..I got six to prove it..VG

Catmandu 01-04-2005 09:34 AM

That sounds wonderful. Congratulations. Make sure that as she gets older, she's still having fun with it. My daughter is 14 and dancing 10-12 hours a week. How do you like buying those pointe shoes? :)

ShaniFaye 01-04-2005 09:48 AM

Pointe shoes are killing me lol her feet wont stop growing, Im in the process of buying her 3rd pair in a year

Catmandu 01-04-2005 04:40 PM

The things we do for our kids. I think last year we did 4 pair of pointe, 2 pair of tap, and 2 pair of modern. And, we let her eat and sleep in our house! :) All I can hope for is a thank you sometime in the next 15 years.
