Weird little quiz I found..

I don't know how much this is circulating so you guys may or may not have already seen it.. Sort of interesting. It is quick and work-safe if you care.

i_am_not_worthy 10-18-2004 04:10 AM

That is amazing!!!
Have done one like it before - what triggers your mind to think that way???

GMontag 10-18-2004 04:24 AM

I have a feeling that it has nothing to do with the math problems at all. They are simply to get you in the habit of answering quickly and without thinking. The answers to the last question are just the most common thing first associated with the type of thing (trying not to give away the test).

Oddly, I was in the 2% for the first test, but the 98% for the second.

EDIT: I sincerely doubt the numbers are that high though. Maybe 75%.

yep, that's what happened with me, too.

noodles 10-18-2004 08:49 AM

2% in both :-/

Tralls 10-18-2004 09:14 AM

I was in 2%. I thought of a blue wrench and a potato (which is a vegetable right?!)

Cadwiz 10-18-2004 09:44 AM

Orange hammer. Does that put me in the 2% or the 98%? Bell pepper on the second one. I'm not sure why, I hate them.

djtestudo 10-18-2004 09:53 AM

Well, I'm now officially a sheep :p

Glory's Sun 10-18-2004 10:02 AM

I have a different but abnormal mind.. ppffftt.. that's common knowledge :p

cartmen34 10-18-2004 10:20 AM

interesting. I'm with the 2%'ers...but only half-way. I thought of a blue hammer.

Didn't do the second one.

klep 10-18-2004 10:22 AM

i thought of a blue hammer. kind of close i guess...

tspikes51 10-18-2004 10:42 AM

Blue screwdriver.
Tomato

2%. Definately. I also scored extremely left-brained on one of those tests.

Giltwist 10-18-2004 10:52 AM

Mauve wrench and okra, but then again I make it a point to think differently than most people. ;)

I thought of a blue hammer too! And then a carrot. Predictive bastages... reading my mind. :hmm:

keyshawn 10-18-2004 11:52 AM

allright....

2% for me - woot !

*Smirks*

[btw, i thought of a blue wrench and corn]

CSflim 10-18-2004 01:16 PM

I was in the 2% both times, I guess that makes me one in 2,500.

I always knew I was kinda special.

Oh, and here's another vote for "the maths is irrelevant".

adysav 10-18-2004 02:06 PM

For all the people who seem to like wallowing in their 'abnormality', 14 out of 16 people in this thread are 'abnormal', myself included.

Hmmmm...perhaps this test is somewhat less than scientific?

Or maybe the TFP Philosophy Board is a skewed sample?

:)

adysav 10-18-2004 02:13 PM

Perhaps you just thought you weren't thinking about it, but really you were.

Nafter 10-18-2004 02:16 PM

yellow wrench, and potato, same as some others, maybe we think differently, in the same way heh

Dilbert1234567 10-18-2004 02:43 PM

white screw driver,

squash.

yeah im not normal, we have learned nothing today.

t193r7 10-18-2004 02:55 PM

I'm the 98% in both question this time,
but I did the same test half a year ago and I was the 98% in the first one and 2% in the second one.

Suave 10-18-2004 03:51 PM

Yay for intro level psychology. Those predictive quizzes operate on the principle of "prototypical" objects. A prototypical object is one that, in most people's minds, fully and best embodies a certain group of objects, or that they are at least the most familiar with, and stands out.

A carrot is a very "vegetably" vegetable, and stands out from all the leafy greens and everything else by being brightly coloured. Of those who don't say "carrot", the majority would probably say "lettuce", or "broccoli".

With the hammer and colour, same thing; a hammer is a basic, familiar, and very "tool-like" tool. Red is a bright colour, as well as being a primary colour. Therefore, they're both very likely to be the answer.

nash 10-18-2004 03:56 PM

green hammer/celery

MSD 10-18-2004 07:19 PM

I knew it wasn't a good sign when I got stuck on 12 + 53. I really should go to sleep now.

I started with a grey hammer, like the one sitting on my desk, and nearly had a brain hemmorhage when I tried to say "rutabega" and "artichoke"at the same time.

daking 10-18-2004 07:46 PM

its obviously not 2% its something like 40%, but as it gets more people than not they can accentuate the suggestion by saying 98/2 split.

Halx 10-19-2004 12:28 AM

It's quite obvious that the statistics are wrong because a hell of a lost more than 2% of you are claiming different.

pink hammer
broccoli

anti fishstick 10-19-2004 09:47 AM

i thought of a red screwdriver
and cauliflower.

but i knew about this before. and i have picked carrot the very first time i took this kind of thing.

micah67 10-19-2004 10:35 AM

Yellow Hammer and squash

I've read that 54.8% of all statistics are made up - maybe this is a similar case?

Dane Bramage 10-19-2004 10:49 AM

2% for me... I always knew I was weird, but sheesh.

Either that, or this forum attracts the 2% of the world that thinks differetly... which I would certainly agree with.

I kinda ruined it for myself. I read everybody's responses before taking the quiz... but for what it's worth.

Orange Hammer (and I didn't do the other one).

Ruse 10-19-2004 12:28 PM

heh 2% and 2% I guess Im abnormal thought of a thought of a green saw and a tomato

Grancey 10-19-2004 12:58 PM

98% on the first, and 2% on the second. In the first test the answer just popped out. In the second test I was anticipating having to give an answer, so I think the anticipation altered my ability to just answer off the top of my head.

Red Hammer
Broccoli

Unright 10-19-2004 01:12 PM

Purple wrench....

...and a cucumber.

Maybe it works better if you read it out loud to someone?

rockford1004 10-19-2004 01:46 PM

When it comes to tools I'm normal because I thought of the Red Hammer but the veggies were not so normal, I thought of Corn. I guess sometimes I am normal and sometimes I am not.

Tomatoes aren't vegetables. To the back of the line with you.

Fohur2 10-19-2004 04:19 PM

Blue Axe is me

KinkyKiwi 10-19-2004 04:26 PM

purple wrench and brocolli...thsi doesnt seem effective at all ..ether that or most people here have abnormal minds...

mo42 10-20-2004 12:19 PM

Green Ruler and a carrot. A ruler's a tool, right?
