Most of you haven't realized yet that philosophy and theology are not the same fields. Christians say that God revealed a certain manner of himself to humans precisely because humans weren't capable of understand God's essence by their own mental faculties.
Therefore, the Christian revelation of God is a thesis that must be accepted or rejected before discussion can begin. It isn't meant to tug at your mind. The mind can be employed after the premise has been accepted or before a decision has been rendered, but the decision itself is not a strictly philosophical understanding. Incidentally, if you really have to have all of your beliefs "proven" by the strictest epistomological standards, you're going to be seriously depressed when you find out how much we actually "know". |
