Actually, I lived next door to an Indian couple when I had my first child, and they ate a lot of spicy food...as Indians tend to do. So when their kid was older and onto solids, it was pretty much into the cultural stuff straight away. The kids know no different.

My youngest (who's two now) used to help her papa eat jalepeno chips all the time, dill pickles are still her favorite (they are a bit spicy when you get the cheap ones), she loves BBQ anything. Pepperoni and the like she also tears into without question. She doesn't eat much of it because I RUN from it like the plague because I'm not one to eat it and live out of my bathroom for very long...(sorry if that's TMI )

So she's into spicy food! Good for her! Tried her with anything stronger yet? Note, I'm not recommending you do so, but I'm curious.

Her daddy has tried to get her to taste the hot peppers they send with Papa John's pizza, but I usually cut him off before he gets away with it...I just don't have it in me to watch her suffer!! (ok, so I just can't stand the thought of eating it, and so for now she is deprived...hehe)

I can't really think of anything else she has had other then what I already listed, but I have a feeling she is going to take after her Daddy and Grandma (his mom) and eat anything that has a bite to it!! I'm just to paranoid at the moment, to let her find out now!!

It's probably a good idea to wait until y'all can explain what it is before you let her have it.

Both my seven year old girls like spicy food and have liked it since they were about 3. Jalapeņo chips are their favorite. You should see how much wasabi they put in their soy sause when eating sushi...

Sounds like my kind of kids, honestly. Might be worth having 'em if they like such things.

my 8 y.o. son loves spicy stuff, he will eat the same spicy salsa's, peppers etc. that i eat. btw...the peppers that cpme w/ Papa Johns Pizza are very very mild they're called pepperoncini's and they are more tart than spicy...they won't hurt the little one, and she may actually like them. just thought i'd try to calm your fears a bit

My daughter is like hubby. They loves spicy. I can't stand too much of it. She will eat as many slim jims as hubby in one sitting. She will steal my pepporoni when I'm making pizza. She loves pickles. She's a nut. Her favorite food, and wierdest, is a ketsup sandwich. Wierd huh?

My oldest has enjoyed spicy food since before he could talk. He'll devour a pork and chile verde tamale doused in salsa...but leave all the pork behind. (He's a frickin' vegetarian and doesn't even know what a vegetarian is.)

My 7 year old niece, given the choice, would live on nothing but salami, garlic potatoes, and salsa. Took her out for sushi with me whe she was about 4, and she loved wasabi - -would eat it straight. (with her forehead sweating, she'd swear it wasn't hot)

I loved those peperoncini peppers since I was a little kid, I don't like the papa johns peppers because they're pickled - -anything but a garlic dill kosher pickle as a pickle is sacriligious.

My nephew likes tangy - he'd drink straight vinegar...

Strange kids...

My 16 month old daughter likes nothing more than to walk around the house chewing on a lemon. She quite often goes to the fridge, grabs a whole lemon and then proceeds to go at it, rind and all. She is weird.

Careful with the lemon. It'll damage her teeth.

The citric acid will wear away the tooth enamel. Speak to your kid's dentist, or pediatrician.

The pediatrician has no problem with her eating oranges and clementines. Why would lemons be any different? I'll ask her anyway though. Thanks.

I believe they're stronger. The citric acid in a lemon is fairly pure, from what I can tell, having tasted the pure stuff from a chem lab. Anyway, I found, many years ago, that my teeth starting feeling kinda rough after a few days of eating the things. I stopped at that point.
