divorced dad support group -- Know any?
I'm a dad of two boys, 9 & 11, and I'm going through a divorce. I've been the stay-at-home parent for 11 years, and in February my Soon-To-Be-Ex started a very contested divorce. I've got the kids 50-50, and I'm seeking more -- my STBE is an attorney, but she has always traveled and socialized much more than mothered her kids.
I'm miserable. I would love to find a group in the Hartford, Connecticut area of dads like me -- dedicated dads who just want to be dads. Any suggestions? I seem to find myriads of groups that cater to moms, but not dads.

I suggest calling your local Parents Anonymous. I used to coordinate volunteers for a chapter and it wasn't all about abusive parents. Even if they don't have a group for you, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

There's a firm out there called A.D.A.M. that supports father's in divorce cases. Let me see if I can find a link...don't know if it's a local thing or not...
http://www.divorcesource.com/MI/pages/mensdivorce.html I guess it is local, but it says you can call for referals in your area. It's not a group rather a resource perhaps? I'm sorry you are going through something like that with kids that age. I myself haven't had that problem and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Good luck to you and yours!
