Big Boy Bed
Last night my little guy spent his first night in his brand new "big boy bed". He is only 26 months, but we are getting ready for a new crib occupant, due in late May.
When my wife and I went to check on him a few hours after putting him down, he was sleeping peacefully in his bed and using a pillow for the first time........we both immediately started sobbing. Seeing him in a real bed was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen. I love being a parent. |

We just experienced a similar joy. We use a family bed until the kids are ready for a room of thier own, and Sagan just asked for his own room(2yrs. old). He now sleeps alone in his room and I am still missing him.

I just wish my little one would make it all night in his own bed. It seems he still wakes up ~3 A.M. and ends up back in our bed. I am not saying that I don't mind having him in where he feels safe and loved, but I sure like to stretch out and turn over when I sleep. It was one thing when he was small but now he is 3 and he takes up quite a bit of room, especially when he needs to be touching both of us and ends up turning sideways in bed!

As a parent also, I can say that almost all parents experience this feeling, and usually more than once. There have been a thousand moments where I have felt this about either of my children. they never cease to amaze me. and they are always constantly growing and I feel it everyday.

We just did this same thing... on a very similar timeline to the original post. One coming in August, and we're making room. The crib has been moved, and the new bed is in place. We're still battling the "time to GET IN your bed and STAY IN you bed" routine, but it's getting there. For me, the most surreal (and tear maybe creeping down the cheek, but I won't admit it) moment was the first nap he took in his bed one Saturday afternoon and when he got up, he opened the door and staggered sleepy-eyed into the hallway. He just looked soooo big!
