Peeka boo I see you!
For those that believe in Christianity.
When people give you a hard time about your belief and refuse to accept God into their lives, you would know they're going to hell. How does that make you feel? |
See I can't really be sure of that. The question really isn't "who goes to hell" so much as "how petty is God". In the Bible alone, God is given many names: Yahweh, Jehovah, and at least one more that escapes me at the moment. So, would God really care if you called him by another name, say Allah? Come to think of it, God really isn't a physical being, unless you want to say God is limited in physicality to Jesus. So, is He really a he? Nah. So then why not call him by female names or even just the Goddess? These arguments can be repeated for too many to mention other attributes. When you really boil it down, I think all that really matters is that you worship/respect/whatever the Creator deity above any others you might hold. After all, the Bible says you shall worship no other god before me, not you shall worship no other god. Of course, to sneak the Christianity in, you also have to believe that as Creator, God is a Provider and a Guide. If it so happens that we needed a Messiah, I believe the Creator will have provided one. And, I think, that as any artist, he is always tweaking his creation, thus he guides us as well. Honestly, I can't see heaven being all that great if the people I love can't be with me. The interesting thing, all the really important people in my life do believe in SOMETHING. I like to say, time can't have gone on infinitely into the past, and if it did, probability says that something like which I believe in would have to come into being.
Peace be with you, G |
Hell isn't a place, but a state of mind. Those who choose to live in pain, grief, anger, doubt, fear- they will reap that in passing by looking back at their life- but move on.

as a christian, i do not believe in the hell boundedness of individuals for that reason. i remain uncertain of the ways in which God's judgement plays out in the cosmic scale, but i know it on a personal scale to be inseperable, and indistinguishable from God's mercy.
Oh, and Nobody, not Nobody calls God Jehovah in the bible. its simply a bad masoretical translitteration from the 1400s. sorry...little pet peeve of mine. |
Well, I am not Christian but, The way I see it , I will finally be allowed to see god the way I want to without anyone telling me I am wrong and doomed. Actually looking forward to Hell.
|
I'm of the opinion that (and this assumes the existence of both a god and hell) as long as a person lives a good life any god that would damn them for such a petty thing as not believing in something for which no proof was ever given is a god I don't want anything to do with. If you assume a just, benign, and merciful god then those who are truly good are destined for heaven; otherwise, god is just omnipotence with a sadistic streak. If that's the case, send me to hell, I'll have the air conditioning installed within the first year :P

I'm pretty well with davik here, as long as you live a life that is good you are sure to get upstairs. I also believe that those who don't but ask forgiveness will get in too, I personally like the idea of as many people as possible going to heaven rather than suffering in hell.
|
Ultimately it is you who reject God and his kingdom, it is not him who forsakes you. And I really wish people would stop saying that Christianity states that if you are not Christian, you are going to hell, because the is not the case.
|
I agree with you Mojo, yet there are some christians who want to think otherwise. :( If someone says something nasty about my religion I can't really think how I feel about them going to hell, because I still don't know if they are or not......... nor will I.

Thats why I cant accept catholocism. I can not accept that as a lesbian I will perish even though I am a good person. I am not evil.
|
My personal view is that Hell is a choice, like any other.
If you choose to be in Hell, then I pity you, but that is your choice. (See the views of C.S. Lewis on Hell, if you want a better understanding of what I mean.) |
CS Lewis wrote an interesting book called Pilgrim's Regress modeled after the more famous Pilgrim's Progress
|
Yeah, I like the Narnia Series too.

Im a christian and sometimes im offended by what people say about what I beleive in but you cant change what some people beleive. Honestly, I can say Ive gone through this quite a bit mainly because my dads a evolutionist and my moms a well I dont know haha.. Im not really sure how I ended up where I ended up, but I beleive in God honestly because I well do. Faith is beleiving in something without visual proof, people say evolution occured but they have no evidence directly in front of them they have faith that it happened ...
