For ages people have believed they have a specific animal spirit, or familiar, that kind
of watches and protects one's self.

I know little of them and I know not what mine is. Help me out, anyone? and other people, share yours?

From what I know of Native American and Celtic familiars, my knowledge on the subject is minimal, but it is not based on date like your astrological sign.
Animals have different qualities and characteristics asociated with them and the familiars are chosen based upon these.
It is similar to the practice of some Christian religions of burning candles. You might burn a candle of St. Michael to deliver you from your enemies whereas you might take on the familiar of a bull to help bring you strength. It depends upon your needs and situation as to which familiar you choose.
