Time travel (LONG)

I was surfing the web and I came accross this article. Talks about time travel and a variety of other things (covers death, memes, ect). An intresting read, would like to know what you guys think about it if you get the time to read it.

EDIT: Oops forgot to post the link!

It'd help if you could provide a link, or better yet, quote it directly...

That's long, so I just read a little bit. I disagree that suspended animation is a form of time travel, but I guess its just semantics.

In any case, physics supplies a very simple solution along the same lines. If you travel close to the speed of light, time flows differently for those in the spaceship, so to them, they can travel as fast as their technology allows (greater than c in a sense). By that I mean that traversing a distance x always takes more time than x/c, yet the time measured by those in the spaceship can be made arbitrarily small. The speed of light limit is a limit within a consistent reference frame. If you mismatch things from two reference frames (earth-measured distance, spaceship-measured time), you can "go faster."

I guess to me, time travel proper is being able to travel backwards in time.
Forward time travel is nothing special really...it's just hibernation.

I like how he promotes his hypothesis to a kuhnian paradigm shift

Still, the idea of actually being able to visit the future is indeed an enticing one. I would love to be able to find out what happens to mankind in the next century, and beyond...just to see what advances there are in human knowledge about the world we live in, and how this knowledge will be used.

Meh, not really that intresting, i read about half of it, but ran out of time i need to go to class now and i don't feel very englightened by my former readings so i don't think i'll bother to go back to it.

I like to ponder what would happen if you could go back in time.

Can you actually change anything or are you assuming your going back in time already apart of history.

Not really time travel. More like forward travel. What happens to your mind/etc when your "hibernating"!? Same as when you're dead? And what happens to it when you return from the state of hibernation...
