I would be equally disgusted.
Disgusted because there is not passion, but blatent marketing using sex.

Madonna's latest album not doing so well as expected?
Not surprised...Madonna of all people giving out about the fakeness of hollywood and celebrity culture? I mean, what the hell!? This is, presumably a clear sign of of dieing career. The only thing that sickens me more than the blantant act of attention seeking, is the amount of attention it actually good. The sooner people forget about it, the happier I'll be.

Such a blatant publicity stunt. Actually, if it had been two men instead I would have had more respect for them - male homosexuality is still taboo enough that it would take some guts to kiss another man on television. This (the Madonna/Britney kiss) just exploits rampant male lesbian fantasies.

As a publicicty stunt, I think that the MTV kiss was a smash success and that's all that matters. Reality, talent and passion all take a back seat to cold, hard cash. That is the reason that two guys have not kissed in this manner; there would be no profit and very little positive press.
And just because everyone else seems too cool to admit this, I though that kiss was pretty hot!

I'd actually like to see madonna and britney get kissed with a baseball bat. Oooooh, wouldn't that be provocative?
When they show two butch ass lesbians or two fellas making out at the vma's i'll give them some props. |

people are still talking about it, that was the goal.
positive or negative publicity doesn't exist, there is only publicity. Controversy only promotes discussion over the subject. The best way to stop this kind of behavior and marketing is to simply ignore it.

I don't like to see two guys kiss. It's verry uncommon in our culture. When women greet eachother they kiss on the cheak, men just shake hands. So seeing women kiss (even on te mouth) is a less stranger thing than two guys kissing.

Two girls kissing? Wow!
Two guys kissing? Eeuuww! Sorry, as a guy I KNOW thats hypocritical and I've tried to understand it. Maybe because its always been acceptable for girls to hold hands and walk down the street arms linked, but never been for guys. We cant show sensitivity in public, see? Its probably because girls just dont have so many silly hangups as us (read more mature) but I do know that the guy who touches my ass....is.....dead.

Yes, in this society two girls kissing is hot and completely acceptable, even encouraged where two men kissing is either gross or funny. One of the many doublestandards in our society.

Hot women kissing = good
Hot chick / guy that doesn't look like Ron Jeremy = ok Anyone else = no thanks Now I have no problem with people like to do. All I know is ugly is still ugly. And men for me automatically lose points on the beauty rating. Also I agree with most of the rest of you, pure marketing crap. |

If it was Eminem and Fred Durst, I would love it.
If it was anybody else, I'd probably shake my head, due to marketing setting the gay movement back half a century. I don't have a problem with people kissing. But doing it in an awards show as a political statement is kind of pathetic. It's like the quiet, tense guy sitting on a bus without looking anybody in the eyes, only to stare at them in a menacing manner as soon as they step off the bus, and it rolls away, him knowing he's safe to do so.

It was as said a ploy to get people working and looking. They always have some big stunt or ironic thing going on, this was just another one of them. One year it was Eminiem and Elton John singing on stage together, who would have thought that would happen?

I thought it was hilarious.
Then I started to get annoyed when they kept cutting to Justin Timberlake to get his reaction. What, is this just to get under his skin? Who cares what he thinks! We're missing Madonna & Christina!! |

I think Britney is much better than Christina. I don't really like Christina's slutty/"dirty" image, I prefer her how she looked when she started out in the music industry.
The kiss.. well... just trying to get more attention to the show - the kiss was shown on news all over the world. More people watched it I guess. |

Like a previous poster mentioned earlier, I don't care about it much. The only thing related to this that I do care about is that it received so much attention. Its baffling how people can be so taken in by the pretentious display of some sort of sell-out sexuality.
Admittedly, whatever reaction I did have to the kiss would have been different had their been 2 guys. But, I think the empathy factor has a big deal with it. I don't mind madonna kissing britney as much, cause I'd do it also. I would never kiss a guy, so just the thought of someone else doing it repels me. Our minds are being raped.

I'd love it if it were two men.. if it was honest, not a fucking marketing ploy.
I wish to kiss every guy who goes "uh uh that's sooo hot" and not even considers why they did it, with a baseballbat.

Such an action might actually make me watch the VMAs...Just because it'd be fresh and something that actually creates a real stir instead of the stir that Madonna and Britney created amongst 65% of males and no one else. Didn't mtv used to be edgy at some time? Now it just seems....cliché....
