Time Travel
Is it possible?
I've heard that travel forwards can work, but backwards isn't possible. |
I heard you need to not weigh anything and have to be going the speed of light.
So, yes. It's not just possible, it's easy! |
I think time travel could work backwards. You'd just change everything in the past. Bam.
like, the faster you go, the slower time is.
there was an experiment where an atomic clock was a few milliseconds slower after being in space |
Wait, no. Time trave is definitly not possible, cause if it were, somebody would have come from the future by now and given us the technolongy!
then again, mass would become infinite as you reach light speed
Maybe only robots could withstand the terrible rigors of time travel? I wouldn't trust a robot to kill hitler.
maybe they aren't allowed to in the future
like in TimeCop |
Okay, I was just thinking about this and if you tried to go back in time to kill your grandfather before he could father your father, wouldn't that mean that you would never be born so you couldn't go back in time to kill your grandfather?
Well, haven't you seen those Terminator movies? The robots kill everyone! maybe there is no future to visit, thanks to those robots.
Or what if you could only time-travel into like, gateways, so time-travel in the past isn't possible UNTIL we perfect it our era?
I recall reading somewhere about the use of black holes to travel through time.
"Okay, I was just thinking about this and if you tried to go back in time to kill your grandfather before he could father your father, wouldn't that mean that you would never be born so you couldn't go back in time to kill your grandfather?"
What if there are alternate universes? |
Black holes are just theoretical. Nobody knows if they really exist.
Are black holes the same thing as worm holes?
Oh, shit, yeah, black holes are crazy
Like, they distort reality |
No, worm holes are tears in the interdimensional fabric,
black holes are collapsed stars |
Have you heard what those crazy scientists say? Black holes bend light? Please.
Black holes ABSORB light dude.
They bend TIME. If you go the speed of light, time like, freezes |

If you go the speed of light, I think you just can't see anything. Like when you break the sound barrier, you can't hear anything? Its the light barrier.
well, tonic, maybe there are
or maybe there are a finite number of universes |
Maybe, there only is one universe, and life is just one big choose your own adventure.

I had this idea about time travel a while ago, which I think is a sensible way of finding out if it can ever be done.
We erect a huge monument that will forever remain standing, and we write the date of completion on it. We put the text: "here, on (date), the very first time travellers ever appeared" on it. Then, theoretically, as soon as the monument is complete, people should show up and prove once and for all that time travel is possible. |
the problem is the faster you go, the more mass you have
thats why you need to use negative energy |

BUT WHAT IF you require like a teleporter to go back in time. We would need a gateway for them to come back |
A teleporter, comixmater? I don't know what you mean by that.
Hmm... perhaps
^^about fate
a teleporter think about this: time travel could need 2 doors they have one in the future we don't have one in the present until we build a door or gateway, they can't visit us and we can't visit them |
Oh, I see. Yeah, but by the time we make a portal... uh... that means that we could travel in time ourselves. IT'S A CATCH 22!
Anywho... Maybe time travel IS fate, in a sense. Maybe everything we do is fate, and any deviation is time travel! |
Technically, as we observe time going forward right now, aren't we time traveling FORWARD?
So, everyone can time travel, we just can't control it. Or maybe we can, thats why childhood seems longer, than the rest of your life! Maybe, people will learn to master the very flow of time...
I doubt it.
You can't always rely on fate |
Okay that's just crazy because if it's fate, isn't it bound to happen? Like destiny? So of course you can count on it.
Thats very profound... A good argument against fate. Maybe time is the counter to free will.
Assuming you went beyond the speed of light, wouldn't you become god?
destiny = fate
maybe like aliens can travel in time |
why would be be god?
just cause you're going fast doesn't make you omnipotent |
That is an interesting analogy tonic. If you could go beyond the speed of light, and reap the time traveling rewards that that entails, you could reshape the world and essentially be a god!
But aliens abduct humans to experiment on. Don't you think that they would travel to an earlier period of time when humans were less harmful? Like, the 60's or something?
Man, I don't even know if the 60s were less harmful. More drugs, I guess, but I mean, we were in the middle of a war and stuff.
well, you'd be a demigod, not a real god
there might be like good aliens and bad aliens
You'd still be omnipotent, omnipresent, all that, right?
You wouldn't have god powers!
You would just know what could happen |
Yes. I mean, In like every religion, omnipotence = big pimpin, and to a lesser extent, spendin cheese.
aliens could have built the pyramids
No, cos. If you could time travel, you could change stuff too. Just use your imagination.
I was just watching X-Files and the japanese were trying to create a race of alien human hybrids.
Crazy Japanese. Where'd they get the alien parts?
I don't actually think we'll ever travel back in time. Scientists today definately wouldn't go back in time if they had a time machine, because they'd be afraid of changing things back here in the present. There's no reason to believe they'll get more stupid in the future.
I've heard so much about those insane worm-holes these days that I don't really attach much value to that whole thing. It seems a bit too convenient to be true. I'll have to actually see one of those things, and see it do all the nifty things science tells us it might do, before I'll believe it. I mean... people nowadays laugh when they hear doctors once thought leeches were the cure to all diseases. I have a feeling that in 400 years, people might be laughing at our wormholes too. |
Was it Japanese or Alien japanese?
It looked like an alien. I couldn't tell if it was japanese or anything. Maybe it was.

Maybe, the aliens are microscopic. Or maybe, WE'RE microscopic.
What if planets were like aliens, and we were germs. But we didn't realize it because we didn't have the persepective.
well size is all relative man
Ooh. That's neat. But, what exactly is the aliens/planed thing? The rocks and stuff? Maybe, the sum of all life on the planet is essentially one being that we live off of.
And the motion of the planets sets the 'beat' of the relative ammount of time that passes. So all we have to do to time travel is speed up the planet. I dunno, maybe rockets or something?
You know whats funny? That like makes complete sense. If we sped the planet up, then we'd have sped up time itself! OMG WHAT IF TIME IS SEASONAL! WHAT IF WE LEAVE THE ORBIT!
Why would aliens want to enslave us anyways?
I don't think man is ready for this kind of responsibility. Being flawed and all.
Get on topic cos. Jeez. We're talking about speeding up the planet.
Quote:
Maybe they'd enslave us for the same reasons that mankind is enslaved in the matrix. Maybe they need our bodies for power!
well the planet is going 1000 mph
Couldn't they like, use cows or something?
I guess that we'd know if aliens have enslaved us... Cause of the massive cow shortages.
they do multilate cows
You'd think that they could like, scan the cow or something instead of dissect it. Shouldn't they have tricorders if they're super advancecd?
Can aliens time travel? Maybe thats how they've avoided us for so long.
Probably. Maybe those 'grey' aliens are more evolved humans!
Aliens ahve super technology, I bet they can time travel
It would make perfect sense! If I was more evolved, I sure wouldn't want to spend time with you losers. I'd use my evolutionary powers to hide... In time!
Maybe part of their super evolution is coming back in time to dissect us. Like in Bill and Ted, where they come back in time to help themselves all the time.
speaking of evolution, maybe we can get like telekniesis or telepathy
they say the aliens communicate with telepathy |
Why would they want to dissect us? Maybe, the only way to evolve is to assimilate other humans!
I do believe there are several groups of aliens, some good some bad
Do they fight? Why havn't we witnessed their epic battles through the hubble?
What do you mean by 'good' and 'bad'? Some aliens want to enslave us, perhaps? Maybe the other ones are trying to help us do the whole evolving thing?
I mean there are two forces of aliens
Maybe 1 for esnalvement, maybe 1 against it like the civil war |
Makes sense, because history does repeat itself... The question is, which side is winning...
well, are we enslaved yet?
go blue aliens |
How do you know that they're blue, huh? Are you in league with them? Are you the Harriet Tubman of the good aliens? Where is your underground railroad???
Right. Time travel is possible at plus one second per second.

I would lke to know how infinite mass is defined. What would you have if you had "infinite mass". Every particle (proton, for example) has an existing anti particle (anti-proton, in this case). a Photon (light), i believe, is defined as a particle that exists as both its particle and anti-particle state at the same time. They are also said to have no mass. So the closer you come to "infinite mass" the closer you would come to this state (energy... i think)? when a particle and anti-aprticle of its type come into contact they annihilate each other. So in theory you'd either blink out of existance or turn into energy. Most likely you would turn into a form of energy, if this is the case you would need a way to change back into a form of matter.. preferrably the form you began as, anything else would be undesireable. And the alternative to turning into energy, not existing at all, would also be undesireable (to me anyway). Black holes are collapsed giant stars. They arent holes but extremely super-dense and compacted matter. Matter is mostly comprised of empty space, if all that empty space is condensed and subatomic particles condensed (which you'd think would be possible by a massive star collapsing in upon itself) you get a "black 'hole'" (dont take my word on that last part, thats just how i understand it). And yea, black holes can bend light as well as absorb it.. lots of celestial bodies bend light though. Astronomers use the effect of bent light by gravity to view distant galaxies, its called a gravity lense. ***this section is actually on topic*** I can see how time travel forward would be possible, but i think it would be distortion of time, like in the TV show Andromeda. Surrounding time/space can be slowed down in a pocket of sorts, like that created by a black hole, but time outside that pocket would move at it's "normal" rate. Intense gravity would probably destroy any life form though if left uprotected. I can also see the possibility of existing in a state "outside" of time/space where you would literally be everywhere and at every time at once, where/or (you) can slip in and out of any point in space/time. .....talk about playing God. So to answer your question: Yes. ***end on topic section*** What i would like to know is.. can gravity be used to slow light? If you can slow down light by gravity, could you then speed up light by gravity? much the way planetary gravity is used by NASA to accellerate/fling spacecraft etc out to mars and beyond? If so "the speed of light" is moot, and my brain hurts. I would go into this field and do work on Einstein's "Unified Field Theory" and other stuff if i didn't HATE DOING MATH WITH EVERY FIBER OF MY BEING!@! Not to menton fear of being killed by the government or being abducted by aliens... weEEeEEeeEE!! *powering down nerd mode... it is now safe to shut off your computer.* |
