philosophy for life

Okay so does anyone have a saying or a qoute that they try to adhere every day to like "WWJD", "there is no spoon" or something more original? Im curious... that I and I like to sound edu-ma-cated around my co-workers by spouting off random qoutes :)

"Never make fun of a man till you have walked a mile in his shoes... then you can make fun of him all you want because your a mile away and he has no shoes on" I dunno where that came from

Well, there was this thing a wise Hindu man said, I can't remember it exactly, but basically he said that all religions (and atheism, agosticsm etc) are just different paths up the same mountain. It doesn't matter what's on top of the mountain, you should just find the path that suits you best and enjoy the journey.

There are three:

Wherever I go, there I am

Life happens while you are making plans.

We are here for 2 reasons: survival & experience.

I have used a Kantian-Existentialist notion that reflects the Greek appreciation of an ideal human: do what would be good for all men to do. One with low morals might say that men should act like drunken pirates because that's what they are. But that does not honor the ideal...man should seek excellence and try to make it common.

I guess my philosophy for life is:

Live.

I do it.

Life is like a military campaign. There are some exciting battles, some nights with your platoon in a bar, great victories and defeats, but it's mostly marching.

for life huh?

for all irrelevant philosophical issues adressed here i can find some that state points of motivation. much more than most forums or even classrooms for that matter.

"I'd rather live for a day, than die forever!"

"I have memories of things I liked to do in the past, and plans for things I'd like to do in the future, but why don't I have a clue of what I'm doing right now."

"if your having trouble following your dreams, take a nap long enough to remember why you were dreaming in the first place."

"When a light in the house goes out we should put more faith in the sun."

some qoutes that I think of in daily situations when life tries to get you down.

I used to say that my goal in life was "to be a better person tomorrow than I am today."

Recently I changed it. "I want to be a better person today than I was yesterday."

There are many paths to the top of Monut Fuji, but there is only one summit.

Do a google search for Nietzsche's quotes. he has a ton of good ones. His best:

"Ah women. They make the highs higher, and the lows more frequent"

asaris 10-12-2004 02:48 PM

Did someone say Nietzsche quotes?

"We are not thinking frogs." -- Nietzsche, _The Joyful Science_

"It perhaps distinguishes the Asiatics above the Europeans, that they are capable of a longer and profounder repose; even their narcotics operate slowly and require patience, in contrast to the obnoxious suddenness of the European poison, alcohol." -- Nietzsche, _The Joyful Science_

"It is not unknown to me that there is vulgarity in everything that pleases Southern Europe." -- Nietzsche, _The Joyful Science_

"Protestantism is, to be sure, an uprising in favor of the upright, the guileless, the shallow." -- Nietzsche, _The Joyful Science_
