It's like the whole a watched pot never boils... Or something dumb like that.
Time is constant, just that other things take up your time by keeping you busy so that you don't realize the time is passing. If you have a constant reminder of the time of course it will seem like it's crawling...

It's all about perception. Think back to when you were a kid. When you had to wait week for something, it seemed to take forever. As you get older, a week seems like nothing. It's because our perception of time has changed.
When you sit and watch the clock, there isn't a lot of other stimuli to distract your attention, so time seems to slow. When distracted, the same amount of time passes, it just seems faster because you just weren't paying attention to it.

well, time by pink floyd is one of my favourite songs, so i thought this might be an apt place to post it. It kinda relates to the topic though.
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way. Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town Waiting for someone or something to show you the way. Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain. You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death. Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time. Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way The time is gone, the song is over, Thought I'd something more to say. |

Home, home again
I like to be there when I can When I come in cold and tired It's good to warm my bones beside the fire Far away across the field The tolling of the iron bell Calls the faithful to their knees To hear the softly spoken magic spells hehe, there you go also i didn't know it was about syd barret, tho i believe shine on you crazy diamond referes to him. in a general sense, to me, the song is about how time pares and we get older and theres a general message to make the most of it and try not to waste it, cause really we don't have that long... |
