the Zen of Physics

Who's read the book? Furthermore...do you believe in an intrinsic link between the scientific world and the world of spirituality, or do you think they are separate?

one...two...three...go!

Ahhh you see, but that's where your wrong. How can we know that there are any scientific truths of anything when everything that is "scientific" was invented by the SUBJECTIVE interpretations of the brains of the inventors. To me, it's all philosophical, only with people always trying to find the answers to all the questions. Ultimately, there are no answers. The real bummer is that society forces us to conform to "the norm" in order to put food on the table. The only free thinkers in this world do it after they punch out.

I guess you have read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance? I shall quote : -

"Precision instruments are designed to acheive an idea . . . . he looks at the motorcycle and just sees steel in various shapes, and he has negative feelings about these steel shapes and turns off the whole thing. I look at these shapes of steel now and seeideas . He thinks I am working on parts . but I am working on concepts . . .

Good one! Yes, I have read that book, but it's been awhile. I suppose that some of the concepts have echoed in my mind. I really need to reread that book. Thanks for the reminder.

While Physics is trying to define or model the physical world...or "how".
Philosophies try figure out "why" of it all.

In physics with have the acknowledgement that while we are defining everything separately
we figure out after awhile it all really works together.
Zen is just saying "of course", it's supposed to work together.

i believe the two work together, or can work together. but some hardcore scientists are close-minded to things outside their realm of knowledge or comfort zone. the ability to think and look 'outside of the box' generally makes people uncomfortable. they stick with what they know, or don't know.
