Emotion as an obstacle?
Where would you be without it? Probably dressed in matching attire to your comrades while visiting the same 8x8 workspace each day and spending your nights wondering why you feel so empty if, logically, everything around you seems to be running so peachy keen. With emotion comes the desire for action, and with such desire comes experience. If you're not experiencing your surroundings, exactly what the hell ARE you doing? |

An opinion isn't necessarily the result of an emotion. It may be influenced by emotion, but I could rationally give my opinion without having to feel anything. Of course, in the overall context of things, I would venture that humans would naturally be unable to make any decisions purely without emotions since emotions essentially indirectly influence our fundamental concepts of right and wrong and thus our personal decisions towards anything and, I believe, our own self-consciousness. Without emotions, we wouldn't be "individual" and thus "not human". Logically speaking, without individuality, what sort of "advancement" would it be to be reduced to mindless automatons serving a passionless machine dedicated to its own self-sustenance?
