My wife gave birth by c-section to two healty babies.. 5lb 9oz baby girl and a 6lb 3oz baby boy.

we are so happy.

Congratulations, twice the fun! Have fun with them while there young because once they become teens they turn evil!

Congrats! I've always thought twins were cool, and before I realized what having a baby was really like (like, when I was 13) I wanted to have twins. But please don't name them alike ;)

Congrats!! I have boy/girl twins; their dad called it his instant family.
Tell her to take the easy way and not listen to too much advice from singletons:lol:
Some of the things I did that really worked out great:
I both nursed and gave bottles. There's no such thing as 'nipple confusion'. Stick something in a baby's mouth and they think 'food' and will eat.
Keep a cooler of bottles for night and early morning feedings in the babies' room or yours. Saves time having to prepare anything when they awake. ( I made formula by the pitcher two-three times a day)
When one wakes up, wake the other. If bottle feeding at night, fill the nearest sink with hot water, drop the bottles in, then scoop up the babies and bring them into bed, change them. By the time they're ready, the bottles are too. (bottles don't need to be heated or sterilized-just need to take any hard chill off them so the babies don't get a 'cold shock' in their mouths)
It's ok to prop bottles.
Take advantage of the doctor's generosity. Mine would give me medications, formula, etc. Never say no to that stuff!
If anyone asks what can they do-tell'em buy diapers on their way over to visit!!
One of the things I did (that didn't set too well with some family members, but oh well) is I insisted NO visitors my first week home. No grandmothers, neighbors, nothing. A C-section is major surgery and there's two babies demanding my time. The time alone as a family is important those first few days-the last thing she needs is to be entertaining people who came to ooh and ahh and give 'advice' she won't use.
Enjoy!! Twins are the coolest and I don't see how anyone has just one at a time-that's so boring!!
Oh!! One final thing I did that is still treasured: Every day for at least 10 minutes, I videotaped the babies. I did it for two years. There's going to be small things they do that you and she won't remember, trust me on that one! I've caught my son at 16 months playing his dad's Nintendo, my daughter with chocolate pudding all over her face, the two of them having a 'twinglish' conversation....it's amazing.

alternatively, let people come if they bring you food to eat, but most friends/family won't want to stay. Nothing better than getting food out of your freezer that somebody else cooked.

Two pieces of advice
- forget all the chores you used to do as a couple - some of that tidying up can wait.
- get as much sleep as you can - when they are sleeping - the first few weeks are hell with only one child, two together may not be double hell but it has got to be worse.

Congratulations and remember they will sleep through the night......one day ;)

The problem is that you can't be a traffic controller, saying 'mom, you can visit 2-3, grandma, 3-4, etc'...instead you run the risk of 6 people coming over!! (it happened right after my self-imposed embargo). Getting over major surgery, nursing two infants and trying to get to know them, then having relatives come over, food or no, was simple overwhelming( have to get dressed for those people too, ya know!)
The first couple of weeks weren't total hell-it helped that the spouse was home during that time.
I do remember though, our first night home as a family, my daughter decided to have a crying fit all night..ALL night. Finally, in desperation at about 8am, I mixed breast milk with warm water, she drank it, farted, pooped and fell asleep.(Don't know why I did that, just seemed to be what to do) At 8:30 my mom rang the phone.."So!!! How was your first night home!?" She's so lucky death wishes don't really work:lol:

Congrats! Don't be reluctant to ask for a little help, including your tfp friends.

lol forgot to mention we already have an 8 yr old son, 6 yr old daughter and a 4 year old son.. that makes 5 total now

oh i work nights so when i get home i let her sleep most the night unless i have to wake her to help me.

i enjoy changing diapers.. when they grow up and total my car ill look back with fond memories. hehe

we've had a ton of peps toss stuff our ways. mostly cribs and basinets. and a ton of blankets.. it seems we blowthrough all of them in a few days heh

and pampers blow.. i dont like them.. i think our son is alergic to them .. a huggies, dri bottom and a nother type he never gets a red bottom. weird

I can't imagine it. I only have one whose 18 months, and some days I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind, but I can't wait to have more!!!!!!!!! My husbands sister has 7, and the last 2 were twins. It can be rough at times but so worth it right? lol
The whole pampers thing, my son was alergic to them also, and huggies. the only ones he can wear that don't break him out is Luvs, which are cheaper so no complaints here. lol
