How will the anti-christ come into power?
 

to be honest, i'm really looking for what christians have to say about this. but would welcome hearing from anyone. i know the bible says he will reign on earth for a time. but HOW exactly will he get everyone to take the mark of the beast? how will he manipulate the whole world into doing that? i have my own theories, but am curious as to what others think. :confused: undefinedundefined

Just to emphasize, i am looking for a tangible, realistic scenaroi of how its going to happen. in other words, how would YOU do it if you were the anti-christ?

They say he is supposed to come in the guise of a peacemaker. So chances are he'll unite the world in some way through peace, and people will think he is the real christ come again and follow him, or just think "hey this is a great guy" and do what he says or make him leader.

Basically what ObieX said. He will be a peacemaker bringing people together under a world government. Maybe after a nuclear holocaust or devastating plagues and natural disasters.

Or maybe he will be the first working clone or bionic man with a computer in his brain. he will have all the answeres and everyone will listen to him, for afterall he is a scientific success, the perfect human, smarter than all the rest. something will happen on june 6, 2066 and he will reign for 666 years. It will be possible since he'll have science on his side. But when he outlaws religion God will come down and smite everyone. What am I typing? I need to get back to work.

Well I might be able to chime in, especially depending on which ex girlfriend, some might say I am the anti christ...
In all seriousness though I think it will happen economicallly. You will have the formation of a world government, something like the United Nations but with more concrete power. Once they are stabalized they will begin to consolidate power by offering to solve several of the world's problems, specifically hunger and poverty. How can they solve that you may ask, be alotting everyone in the world a specific amount of currency to buy neccesary items. Well how can they grant different currency world wide, by making one world wide currency. After this occurs we have to keep track of who spends how much, how else to do that than to create a world ID. Of course no one gets anything for free so to get access to this money you have to be in a nation that will accept to give up its currency for the world currency. Any nations that hold out will be seen as bad and an enemy of the world.
With sanctions those last nations will eventually give up and join the world nation with their world currency. Some years for sake of convience all money will become electronic and eventually be offered as a credit card or even a computer chip installed on your hand.
I know kinda wierd but this really sounds like the most plausible to me at least.

Have you ever seen an anime called berserk? The perfect leader, and his destiny is to be turned into the Spawn of all daemons. To forsake his companions and pave the road to his Ultimate kingship using bodies as cobblestones. It could be taken that way, but I am in the belief that If you look at politics, we already have an antichrist in the form of the US president, he has already done everything to qualify himself as such.

Lucifer still works for god, or he could not exist. This is all gods doing, or it wouldn't be so, From a quasi christian point of view.

According to at least one branch of Lutheranism, the office of the papacy is the anti-christ. Not any one pope in particular, but the whole idea of an earthly man claiming infallibility and other God-like attributes.

There's also room to debate whether the mark of the beast is six hundred sixty-six or just a string of numbers (possibly serial numbers on currency, or credit card numbers, bank account numbers, etc.) that seems to starve those not in possesion of it.

Not to highjack things but the book of Revelations makes for a very interesting read if you take all the poetic imagery literally. Like science fiction only weirder. But of course, since it's God's word, it's all gonna happen. (time to stock up on insect spray)

all the numbers in the world that we currently have counted on all bank tellers and money exchange records.. so and so untill we reach the end, what would happen If we add them all up? would that equal our countdown to that day? And I would love to study the book of revelations, I am just a novice on what the heck it is, or where to find it, not to sound stupid...

there are more planes of existance, so we should not worry about an antichrist, I mean, of course, do anything you can think of to prevent, but mainly, i think gods plan is for you to worry about your own growth and help the growth of others. and to stunt the growth, like we have been doing, is something wrong to do.

If that was all he did then the answer to that could be yes. For example, if the Anti Christ brings about world peace by killing all that oppose him and creating a global dictatorship is that a great guy?

What if he brings about an end to poverty and hungry by literally killing off all those below the poverty line? Same question, is he still a great guy?


To the OP, my understanding of how the Antichrist will come to power is similar to what someone has already said. He'll mostly likely surface in an organization like the United Nations.

Well, my friend, first of all, I've heard that United States is making a new card that with that card you can buy and sold, It's call MONDEX you can search in google. That would be the mark of the beast, and The anti-Christ would be the next POPE, after benedicto (that one who is now) would come a black POPE, and that would be the anti-christ, and he will trick a lot of people.

You think the antichrist will be black? That's um an intersting opinion.

Personally, I don't think there is any way for us to know for sure. I'd keep an eye on political or religious figures that are overwhelmingly popular. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Here is what I think will happen, with no facts, backing, or proof in anything I am about to type. I think that the Anti-Christ will come into power through the termoil that is going on in the middle east and in Israel / Palastein at the moment. Somehow he or his corperation will be able to settle the problems there. Then a lot of people will love his company. From there he will be accepted into the United Nations. From there he will adress the deteriorating state of the world and all of its problems. Then he will bring up his ways to solve these problems. He will solve some of them. They say that the only way to solve the rest is to establish a world government to govern people who are out to stop the progress that is being made.

Countries will attach themselves onto the idea of equality and safety and put themselves into this new world order (Oh yes I used those terms). The countries that oppose this NWO will pretty much be flattened similar to Iraq with claims that they were against peace and were terrorists. Then the new governments will be put into place and they will sign up wth the NWO.

So now you have all the countries under one code of laws, one code of ethics. Each one has their own little head like a presidents or prime minister who answers to the AC since the AC is the head of the NWO. Eventually the NWO will commision weapons to protect people from terrorists or insurgents wanting to bring them down. This will also allow for technology to be created to track and monitor people. All people would be required to have some sort of implant, or other tracking device installed. This would be the mark of the beast. New borns would get it right away after they are born.

From there he will pretty much do whatever he pleases. Kill his oposers and opposition and then God will have enough of it and take him out and us with him for being so stupid for following him in the first place.

I think this will be a factor in the anti-christ coming into power myself. If you think about it, he can't just walk in and say I am the epitomy of all evil, so you should let me rule. That's not how it's going to happen. The bible itself even says that the devil will appear as an angel of light. I think he will come into power as a peacemaker. What are our current wars being fought over. Now I know some of you are thinking oil, and I agree to some extent(that the control of essentials will be a vice of the anti-christ), but that's not why the majority of them are being fought. They are religious wars. So the anti-Christ will outlaw religion all together to end all wars. Now I'm not saying that this is going to happen overnight. It will be a result of years if not decades of horrible death due to religious wars. No religious beliefs, no reason to fight. Slavery guised as Utopia. And the anti-christ achieves his goal of killing faith by bringing peace to the world. Sadly I believe that this process has already begun, you see in order for the whole world to be sick of all wars, death and suffering, you must have much of it. So evil will start these wars and tyrany just so it came come along and be a (false) messiah to end it. So just as Jesus had John the Baptist paving the way for him, the anti christ will have people paving the way for him/or her. John the Baptist brought a message of hope, the counterpart will bring a message of death, much like our current leaders today. I'll just call him George the Sadist. The worst part of all this is that if you are a Bible believing Christian, there is nothing you can do to stop it from happening. The bible even says it will happen, but there's hope in the afterlife and down the road for those who have to suffer through the anti christ's reign. Always look on the bright side of life

Well what if the antichrist isn't even human? What if the antichrist is the first fully functional artifical intelligence program? If science was able to create an AI program that was always cool, level headed, and posessing all the necessary qualities to lead, would people be willing to put their trust in such a program? I can easily imagine a world that is run by a central computer (or neural net of computers) that make all the important decisions for humanity. To such a machine, wouldn't a human be not a body with a soul, but a number? A purely logical computer would probably also be able to convince people that such things as superstitions and religions are not needed.

Besides, so many other things in the bible are only what the people at the time of the bible's writing interpreted whatever they saw as in terms of their life? How would someone from ~400 AD know about an intelligent robot or be able to describe it in terms that are understandable to everyone?

Yes, and ironically Christianity is more or less the Antichrist according to Nietzsche. More specifically, Apostle Paul appropriated Christ for his own purposes and everything thereafter known as Christianity has been against Christ. If one needs to project an Antichrist onto something, Nietzsche's choice seems reasonable; all of this Illuminati/New World Order conspiracy conjecture is for the birds.

As for my opinion, I don't believe in a literal interpretation of the bible, or even in its relevance as a religious text (I am extremely non-religious.) I feel that the book of revelations is a literary work that warns the reader of anyone who seems ideal, yet may have sinister intentions hidden behind a shroud of good works.

But really; doesn't the Bible say we won't know who the antichrist is until it's too late? That means we can keep guessing, but chances are no one will guess correctly.

I think he meant black pope as in anti-pope, the opposite of what pope-ness is (or is supposed to be).

And I hardly think the book of revelations is meant to be taken literally, same with the rest of the bible. So I don't put much stock into the whole end of the world thing, unless we're talking about 2012, of course. But I am sure that has it's own thread here, somewhere...

I think the antichrist isn't a person, but rather an idea. That idea is pure capitolism.

Revelations is great :) Almost as good as Proverbs ^_^ I unfortunately don't know much of the anti christ, but this has been an enlightening read that is for sure.

They are trying to sell you the mark of the beast now......rfv chips that they are trying to put into your pets so you can find them when they are lost... They will sell it to us as a form of paying for things without having to have money. They are currently selling it to young adults in night clubs all over europe right now. They sell the clubbers on this and it is currently placed in thier upper arm. This way when you want a drink they just scan thier upper arm that has all thier financial info. Women especially love this they don't have to carry a purse. I truely believe this is how it will come about. They will be able to track your every move. They just scan your hand or forhead.

As someone who is a member of that branch, I can say I agree. The papacy has already once ruled all of Europe. They are still in charge of one of the largest religions in the world. It is the 5th great kingdom of the world as mentioned in the bible. I would go into more but I am tired.

Now IMO, I think that there will be one great war, one which will outdo anybefore it, and in the aftermath the pope at this time will use his speech to bring all nations together and form a true "world Goverment"

I know you really want to hear from Christians about this, and it intrigues me that so many people take these beliefs so literally while calling others (the islamic faith for example) religious fanatics. Anyone who is so close to their reigion could be a fanatic in their own way it seems to me. We in the 'West' have the likes of Christianity ingrained in our cultures the same way as those in the 'East' (for arguments sake) have Islam. What really makes the two sets of religious followers different? They both believe the word of their 'One God' to be absolute. So.. what makes one Faith 'Right' over another??
What makes a Fundamentalist Christian a good Christian, while a Fundamentalist Muslim is a fanatic, or vice versa?

Or from another point of view, how would YOU react if there was a similar 'end of all our days' scenario which originated in a Faith you have no belief in?

How do you convince every other religion in the world (Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism etc) that the one you believe in just happens to have foretold the doom of the Human race?
If all the Religions in the world belive 'there is only one God' and it's theirs, who's right?

If future event were ever to unfold in a similar pattern to what's been discussed, isn't it more likely that the panic of related-faith religions and the general sensationalised media panic (especially in the US from what I've seen) will do a whole lot more damage to the Sheeple, sorry- Human Race that the events themselvses..?

Why is it so hard to believe that maybe as they have been called fanatics...Wether your Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, so on and so on. Why is it so hard to believe that Jesus couldn't have walked the earth several different times. Once as Buddha, once as Mohamad, once as Jesus and so on. They all have the same basic message. They each brought their followers to a higher place. So why is it so hard to believe that he may have come to this world several times. He is after all the Son of God. Maybe he came to teach us about himself and the creator. Each time he came it started out well, but then free will (politics) got involved and those who ran the religions put their own spin on things and left out crucial things. Things that would take us to a higher level of consciousness to be one with the creator. If they kept us relying on them they in turn became the Gods themselves. Rule by Fear not by love. They make us believe that our only way to god is thru them....Did you wonder why the Vatican has halls of records that we are not allowed to see. I believe they hide these things from us so that we don't realize God is always with us no matter what race or religion. You need not go thru clergy to have a relationship with God. You need only to ask for his ear.

How would I do it?
 

If I were the antichrist (and has whatever mystical powers that are attributed to such a demi-god) the best route through today's world would be politics with a heavy religeous background. Many countries around the world already call the US hethons (sp?), and the US being generalyl christian have animocity toward the muslim religeons because we are thier target as well.

I would probably choose a middle eastern gouvernment that was tied into religeon, and build an empire that could not be reasoned with, or stood against using the verbal prowess that was shown in WWII, the financial prowess that comes from the resources int he region, and the backing of the entire muslim community for the cause of the final Jihad that would cleanse the planet of the infidels once and for all. Vidtory in the Name of peace, with the promise of deliverance from milennia of persecution.

basically .. pick an underdog and rally the rest of the world to a banner that would overthrow the supoerpowers and put the world into chaos, at that point the little bystanders would join in .. and then you could introduce doctrine and religeous beliefs on a whim as the masses will be ready to listen to a strong leader amidst the turmoil.

Mind you.. that's just off the top of my head .. and almost sounds novelesque, but I believe that it would be possible, feesible, and would accomplish many goals at once for any prosective antichrist.

Ever seen the movie "The Devils Advocate" ? Well in that movie the anti-christ was supposed to be born and persue the area of law. The reason is so he/she could make all the criminals standing trial be found innocent until the streets would be filled with murderes/rapists etc.

It is so hard to beleive Jesus walked the earth as Buddha, Mohammed etc because the Christian faith is based on worshipping ONE and only ONE God.
