My Shadow Figure
I admit up front that i have a very active imagination. I was living by myself at the time which may have attributed to my experience. However, here it goes to skeptics or acceptors.
I had a recurring dream that wasn't really a dream if you know what I mean. I lived in a one bedroom apartment on the second floor. The first night I had the dream the man was coming up the steps, then I woke up. The second night he came down the hall. This was all ok until the third night. He stood in my doorway and stared at me. This happened for about 2 months. I never saw his face because he was wearing a hat and the rim shadowed it. However, his stare was intense and even though he never said a word he always woke me up and I saw him standing in the doorway. It got so bad that I could sense him in my house when I was awake. One night I got so tired of it, that I asked him to please leave so I could sleep. He nodded and never came back. I always regret not asking him what he wanted, but he was very obedient. About a year later my husband and I were looking at the Coast to Coast website. I had made some sketches of this man because he haunted me so much. While we were searching the forum, I asked what shadow figures were and he clicked on it. The exact same figure I sketched was sketched on the website by someone else who had a recurring 'dream'. That is what really got to me the most. |

I love hearing about this kind of stuff. I believe in ghosts and whatnot, I've seen what I guess would be a shadow figure before, it wasn't exactly a ghost. Neat story, seeing the same sketch on a website would be pretty freaky.

Drakers, I went to the site to see if the drawing was still there. However, this was almost 4 years ago, so I couldn't find it. However, there is a lot of interesting stuff on there. If you would like to see the website anyway it is http://www.coasttocoastam.com/ I will continue to search later on and let you know if I find anything.

I may not believe in ghosts, but I do believe in beings "higher" than myself. Whether higher means that they are more consciously aware of the world than I am or can just fly with their minds, I don't know.
Kind of sounds like the Mothman Profecies, which is a movie I highly recommend. I do not scare easily except to those movies where, when you think about the message behind it, it'll scare you. I didn't have a dark man in my doorway, but there was something that did terrify me. Check out http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=81650 I had a dream that was lucid than most, which always make me nervous when I wake up in my dreams and the man that talked to me in it. He gave me a message that let me see... something one night. Check it out if you like.

This is one of the more intersting posts on TFP. "The Mothman Prophesies" is based in actual documentation (it was based on the writings of John A Keel, a huge name in paranoid circles, but there are also thousands of eyewhitness reports). They are usually associated with cryptozoology or UFOlogy. While I have no story of my own, I really enjoyed sheesus' post and augi's post on the other page.

Nothing has never scared me. If something is terrifying to me, the first instinct I have is to challenge it, it's my defence mechanism. The man in the dream was normal, that gave me the message, but the thing that came to me later was more like the creatures I ran with. The Subconscience sucks... if it were more like the conscious mind then I wouldn't have to have silly dreams... and be able to complete my college work.

I had an experience with "shadow people" when I was really young. I would see the shadow figure of a little girl who would look at me from my doorway. I remeber bieng overcome with fear, as I could only lay frozen in bed with fear staring at this figure. I would pull my sheets over my head and pray that it would simply disappear. When I would finally muster enough courage to peel back the sheets, I would see the shadow girl closer to my bed. I would quickly cover myself again. Its wierd how I somehow thought that my thin sheets would somehow protect me, but I guess it's just the logic of a small child. I would eventually just fall asleep and in the morning there would be no sign of the shadow figure. This happened for about 2 weeks and then it just stopped.
The worst incident thought was when I had gained enough courage to actually get out of bed and run to my parent's room. The shadow girl ran after me and I felt her grab my leg as I dove on my parents bed. My parents just blamed it all on an overactive imagination, as did I. It wasn't until I started listening to coast to coast am that I realized I wasn't the only person to see these "shadow people" Last edited by ckerus; 02-05-2005 at 12:21 AM.. |
