My weird link with snakes. Serious.

Down here in australia we have heeps of snakes, some of the most dangerous on the planet, so whenever you are tramping around in the summer you gotta be careful. I spend alot of time camping out in the bush aswell, so im especially careful.
Anyway, since i was about 11 or 12 i have just had this weird type of 6th sense thing when it comes to them. Ill just be walking along and kinda know when they are close by or im in danger. Note, this strictly applies to snakes. Women, thugs and bullets still see me as fair game. Many times ive been walking with people, and just freeze up, and then look over and there is a snake moving out of our way. On one occasion i did this 6 times in one afternoon, myself and the person i was with were amazed. I really couldnt explain it.
Personally, i think it might be some kind of primal caveman sense humans have. Maybe because im out there alot its just developed a bit. people just have this natural aversion to snakes. I know somebody who has a 2 yearold who is mortally afraid of the vacuum cleaner nozzel part which is long and snake like.
Another alternative is that im a superhero freak boy sent from the future to protect man kind. Either way im cool with it.

The bliss of living away from any dangerous animals has always relaxed me. It's like you have a spider sense and what a gift that is. Now you need to use it for some good, save some beautiful girl from mortal danger and she'll be yours and you can be her hero.

Not sure why you have this gift but sure it's helpful in snake populated world.

Living around all this technology dumbs down our senses. That's pretty damn cool that you can sense snakes. I wish I had an ability similar to that.

Sounds cool. Try testing it though, get a non poisonous snake from a pet shop, blind fold yourself and have someone randomly place the snake down a hallway or room and see if you can find it.

Yeah, that'd be cool to do. If you do do that tell us about it!

Not really, no. I thought he could talk to them? Not sense them.

Anyways to add to the thread, I think these types of things stem from our subconscience. We as a being of senses pick up a lot of information, which normally all that pesky thinking gets in the way of, and I think properly trained we can "listen" to our subconscience and have abilities that seem like magic.

Now if you can keep the funnel web spiders from getting you, you'll be in business. That's seriously nifty, though.

Don't you think it is more likely that you have figured out what kind of habitat that snakes dwell in? And then when you near something like that you automatically become more cautious.

maybe you unconciously detect them through some instinct. I dont know anything about snakes but maybe you hear them rustling leaves or like Bauh4us says maybe you just know type of places they inhabit. Your conciousness just relates this with danger because you may have learned this when you were really young. Or you have super-snake detecting powers . Cool ability regardless.

That's a very interesting ability. I think it's just that your senses have sharpened enough that you know the area you hang around in and it's inhabitants very well. I've loved snakes since I was little. That would indeed be a very interesting ability.
