the ghost thread.
i just got through watching another week of scifi wednesday, where they have 2 reality shows on paranormal activities.... it inspired me to start this thread to ask questions i've often wondered about and to also hear feedback from any and all with experiences of their own to share.
here's a little info about the shows... proof positive is a documentary feature kind of show that first showcases someone with an unusual story to tell. this can be a broad range of things that ranges from ghosts to alien abduction to remote viewing... a bunch of stuff that probably are found in tilted paranoia. the show then proceeds to forensically test any evidence available and then about half the time they give a polygraph test to the alleged paranormal participant/victim. at the end of the show 2 of the cases are proven fals or inconclusive and 1(usually the one with only a polygraph test to go on) is proven positive. i like ghost hunters a little more... it's the chronicling of a pair of roto rooter guys in the NE of america that go around to reportedly haunted places in their spare time. they arrive at night and proceed to set up a bunch of gear from ekg meters for energy readings to infrared and thermal cameras.... they then proceed to try to capture proof of supernatural activity, whether its an EVP (a recording of a ghost voice on tape) or a chair moving by itself. while i find myself skeptical of what they do come up with because of the nature of television, i still find it fascinating and am always hoping they come up with something really solid. anyway, i'd love to hear what more seasoned students of the paranormal think of these shows. while im on this subject, i'd also like to ask why you all think that after 3 solid decades of being a culture thats chock full of recording equipment we haven't come up with more substantial evidence of all the things that are reportedly experienced by people every day around the world... i understand that things out in the wild or in the sky might be a little more singular and hard to catch on tape. but ghosts are fixed in 1 place.... they never leave! you'd think that someone would find a place thats full of reported encounters(heavily haunted) and then set up a slew of recording equipment that ran 24/7 until something was captured for us to see. what do you think? lastly, i wondered if there was a site out there with downloadable mpeg clips of paranormal evidence... that would blow my mind.

Cut the enemy as quickly and directly as possible. Cut with certainty. Cut decisively, resoultely. Cut into his strength. Flow through the gaps in his guard. Cut him. Cut him down utterly. Don't allow him a breath. Crush him. Cut him without mercy to the depth of his spirit. It is the balance to life: death. It is the dance with death. It is the law a war wizard lives by, or he dies. |

It's funny that you mention those shows.. the other night I was watching something like that. Where people contact them and they go and check out the story and set up equipment and bring in people to check it out.. etc. But I was rather awed by the story they showed... a family of three, Husband/.Wife/Child, were experiencing what they thought was the spirit of a little girl. But what was odd is that the spirit lashed out only at the husband and scratched him. Naturally, me being a skeptic I didn't think anything of it until they were videotaping some scratches and while taping it more scratches just appeared. The brought all the equipment into the house and verified that there were probably two spirits, one the little girl and the second the one that lashed out at the husband. It was strange because the husband would get a warm feeling before being scratched. I dunno, I enjoy watching these shows.. but this was the first one that really caught my attention.

Anyone see that documentary on the discovery channel about the family that moves into an old funeral home. Then their oldest son gets possesed (seems like they were asking for it, they put him room in the basement, RIGHT NEXT TO AN OLD EMBALMING TABLE!!) and starts acting all weird. He finally attacks his cousin and they have him committed. He makes a cryptic warning about how it will come after the family now that he is gone. Then the father goes to work, parks his car and goes into this toll booth looking thing that he works in. His car apparently starts itself and drives into the booth. He gets out in time but it seriously freaks him out. Then back at home the shower curtain attacks the kids sister, and then it breaks a rosary. In the end they call in some ghost hunters who then get attacked and bring in a priest. The priest peforms and exorcism and BAM problem solved. If you have not seen it I suggest you check it out. It is like three hours long and really good. Supposedly it is all true.... I dunno, but it is on the discovery channel.
