The board is demonistic IMO and should not be taken lightly. Why these things are sold as entertainment is beyond me. If you believe on God you have to believe that the devil is real and will do anything to turn you from God or hurt you. The Ouija is one of his tools.
I'll never touch one, though I have in past when I was about 6 years old and my cousins where playing with one. Nothing bad happened but the slider was definetly moving itself and that should be reason enough for anyone to stay away from stuff they don't understand. |

You suckers have all been had. I used to do this to people all the time. We even had a magnet system set up once to really fuck with some girls in college - I'm sure they are believers just like the rest of you. Evil does exist - and the way it manifests itself through ouji boards is that your friends play evil tricks on you.
Seriously. |

Ahem....Of course, your view is welcome and hey, dude; it's only Your opinion that "We've all been had." I totally disagree. Oh well.. Feel like a big shot now? Got any " scientific data"? That's the real divider after all.

Scientific data is not the real divider, and it's not simply a matter of opinion. What's wrong with common sense? The only things in support of this are a combination of ignorance, motive and self-deception. Also, have you ever noticed that people who participate in these things are often either in their teens, or are emotionally naive?
Yes, it is kind of sexy to believe in ghosts, spirits and all. It means that after we die, maybe there's something exciting to look forward to. Maybe there are mysterious forces afoot that we have no knowledge of, or maybe these things just make for a more exciting story. Let me go through the factors: Ignorance: Coincidence happens more often than you think. The brain is a more finely tuned machine than you imagine, it is also working a lot harder, knows more things, and communicates with other people on levels you are not personally aware of. Life is actually a lot more exciting you realise, without resorting to magic and fairy-tales. However, people who engage and believe in these types of things either lack the education, the imagination, or the experience to realise this fact. You will probably get over it as you get older. Also, when you go through puberty, what with all the hormones pulling you around, it's easy to believe that there are magical and special powers in existence in the world - as you get older, this will pass. Motive: You want to feel special, you want to feel as though there is something other than what you see as a mundane, boring existence, you want to feel as though there is something higher, because you are just getting to the age when you start to realise that you need to step out on your own and not rely on your parents to care for and protect you. These imagined higher forces can be good or they can be evil, but they are however products of your own mind, and say more about your state of mind or the state of the relationships you are in with the people you are with when you do a ouija board.. Which leads me to... Self-Deception: Human beings are 1st class self-deluders, in fact much of the higher brain's time is spent rationalising the actions of ourselves and others (much like I'm doing here, but we wont go into that) By believing in these types of things, you get to imagine you have special powers, that you are of interest to dead people, that there are things in your future that can be revealed to you, and a whole host of other juicy things that the young mind finds exciting, tempting and desirable (see motive). People delude themselves all the time, because it makes life easier, understandable, or just more fun. Anyway, I think I've pretty much covered it. The main point is, no, you've not been had by anyone else, but are instead are 'having' yourselves. Use your youthful energies for something less destructive, less delusional, less bollocks. |

Nice story! I played ouija many times and had one creepy experience where the board started doing a rapid x shape across the board. I said a whole lot of threatening stuff to me and we finally stopped. My friends left and the wierd thing is that my 2 family cats flanked me from the moment I was alone. They walked on either side of me around the house as I locked doors etc, and finally when I got into bed they slept on either side of me. I felt better that the cats were with me.

My sister and her friends, about 3 years ago, came running into my room, disturbing my EQ experience, hysterical. They apparently had contacted some "being" through the Ouija and had become quite scared. I suggest they stop using it, but they wouldn't go back into the room. So I went in, grabbed the board, took it outside and set it on fire. There was no explosion, no spirits flying away, and I'm still alive 3 years later. It's all bullshit. Pure bullshit. If you believe in contacting the 'dead', you're just insane. I know about it, because I've been there. Sure, I was all hopped up on crystal and coke, but I've seen this shit. It's all mental. The ghosts are the ones living up in your head, and until you can flush those fuckers out you'll be insane. Stop tormenting yourself and feel the cold steel in your mouth.

They have some nice Ouija boards dating back to the 1900's on ebay for sale. I would like to have one of those.
The next time any of you play with a Ouija, have the two people that are asking the questions blindfold themselves and have a third right down the answers. You will see nothing but jiberish text I bet.

Anyhoo, I've used Ouija board with just one other person before, and we had a little conversation, but this person is not someone I would really trust. So I'm still torn on the whole issue... Nothing odd happened while we were using the board either... |

That's it, I'm buying one of these godamn boards as soon as possible. This thread rocks, and the original poster's story was awesome.
EDIT: I just tried that Web Ouija board, I asked it 'What is your name?' and it replied 'Cannot tell'. Awesome Then I asked 'What is my name?' and it said 'Unknown'. I asked 'Do you know anything?' and it said 'No'. Last edited by Rlyss; 10-29-2004 at 05:40 PM.. |

i've never used a ouija board...but i have thought about it. these stories i've heard of people using them and strange things happening doesnt both me too much, because...well that is expected.
what does get me though is hearing people foolishly using them, not taking caution and having stuff happen. the ONLY way that i would participate would be as an observer...just watching and experiencing events from an outside perspective....with someone who knows what they are doing. |

Ouji boards completely freak me out. There was this one time when I was younger I was at this girl's house with one of her friends. They were big into punk at the time, so they talked to Sid Vicious and Nancy. It was really weird. My older sister won't even touch one.

Big, big props to Bamrak for hosting these images for me. That was really cool and we all appreciate that. I've blurred the faces of my friend and girlfriend - other than that, nothing else was done to the photos. It is so hard to say what is really going on in the pics. We took two pictures from the same spot right after eachother and in my girlfriends picture there were a bunch of these orb things and in my friends almost nothing. I'm not 100% convinced they are paranormal, but considering the circumstances, they are definately wierd.
I'm not saying, "Hey everyone look, these are ghosts we conjured up with the Ouija Board!" These are up to debate. Look at them with an open mind and decide for yourself. Pic 1 Pic 2 |

Seances scare the shit out of me. The generation of kids before me ensured that id never play with that shit. Too many scary stories.
