Even without the photochopping, the pictures themselves are very artistic with a very eerie ambiance.

Snakedance 08-30-2004 03:18 PM

Interesting pictures, chopped or not. The artist seems to catch all those primordial fears that make us shiver in the night. I dont know about you but if I were walking through the woods and came upon the "figure in the fog" I would probably shit on myself. Having had some experience with a "ghost", I have found that weird things are much better at giving you chill bumps than anything else.

macmanmike6100 08-30-2004 11:33 PM

cleverly photoshopped, i must say...it was kind of like a game of where's waldo :-) doubtful that they were real, though, esp. coming from a banned poster

You fucker, that was UN-CALLED FOR! I'm now scared and can't sleep. Thanks.

Interesting thread, I agree haha, good times.

PulpMind 08-31-2004 12:18 PM

very cool... I only saw the obvious guy in the reflection inside the tower, which was only slightly freaky... seeing all the other stuff now makes it rather silly in it's fakeness, but really cool nonetheless

Unga 08-31-2004 01:13 PM

definately spooky

the things pointed out are cool though :D

radioguy 09-02-2004 02:23 PM

I'm like you Rdr4evr. I've tried and tried and I just don't see the "other things". Awesome pics, though. Time to scroll back up and see what i can find :)

aarchaon 09-08-2004 05:59 AM

I loved these when I first saw them on the SA forums. The first time through I didnt notice anything wrong in any of the pictures except the reflection of the grey man in the tower. I looked through them again and I saw the creepy monkey things hanging off the tree branches. The flying head made me jump though! :D

ShaniFaye, if you love abandoned buildings, take a look at this, I about drove me crazy. It's hard to get back out of, but worth it if you like to explore.

Abandoned

ShaniFaye 09-08-2004 07:29 AM

Hey thanks Mizizing, that looks cool...I'll have to investigate further when I get home :)

jwoody 09-08-2004 07:38 AM

Try this site ShaniFaye, they may have already explored something in your area.

*bump
this is still one of the coolest photochop / paranoia threads ever

Hain 02-02-2005 06:37 AM

Looks like an amateur film student taking shots for a film location...
I mean the way that some of the pictures were taken then possibly doctored. That would be the most optimistic reason for the camera to be there in the first place. Was that part of the forest private property? I can't imagine someone dropping a camera without either being hauled away by police or having to run away from the police.

The hunched over guys... looks like the hole in the wall from Mothman Prophecies, and what Geer's wife drew. That's mainly why I figure it's an ameteur film because any big budget film (if these were for a film) photographers would not have left the camera in the forest.

If nothing else these photos are really cool. Inspires me to write something really scary!

kurtisj 02-02-2005 09:22 AM

those pictures are pretty damn wierd

nohitters 02-04-2005 02:48 PM

the only one i think really looks too unnatural is pic #9

on one of the middle branches, it looks some some weird ass cat spider

duukiey 02-04-2005 07:22 PM

Hmm, not too sure that i like these pics, chopped or not they do give me the EEBEE, GEEBEE's, and that refelextion, every time i scole by it i for some reason get a shiver down my spine, #12 has a figure in the center left in the shadows, i jsut don't know, but i like the feeling to a point...

NCB 02-04-2005 07:57 PM

Creepy.

I'm glad I looked at them before going to bed

waltert 02-04-2005 10:42 PM

lol, if you really found that camera abandoned in a forest, the only logical thing to do would be to take it to the police department and have them check it for prints to find out who the owner is...if someone say "got missing" and you had their camera it might put you in a bad spot.

but most of the stuff posted here is more like comedy than paranormal

zerosk8 02-07-2005 08:14 AM

Ya.....some of those are pretty cool.....especially the one with the reflection......the building, with all of the fog and ivy and stuff......thats the "scariest" one and there isnt even figure in it

drakers 02-07-2005 01:11 PM

It almost seems that as soon as that picture of the the guy's back (in the reflection), that the person taking the pictures started back down what he was climbing and ran away scarred. Because the last few are blurred and look like taken when they were in a hurry. The last one is taken on the ground, like the person was knocked down. Well that is just a small observation. But it seems they probably were doctored.

Dyze 02-07-2005 03:13 PM

Didn't you guys read Xepidemics post? #25? And follow the links?

nohitters 02-10-2005 07:23 AM

That set of pictures is just creepy. I think the 9th photo looks doctored but the other ones look completely real. It's just weird.

Cervantes 02-10-2005 09:31 AM

http://www.hudsonvalleyruins.org/yas.../overlook.html

Some stuff on the buildings of the location where the pics were taken.

Benji 02-11-2005 11:19 PM

Interesting links Cervantes

LiLi-CMA 02-12-2005 11:43 PM

Those are beautiful, I too like 3 and 5 the most. Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Amnesia620 02-18-2005 11:48 PM

If seeing is believing, then....:D

Benji 03-01-2005 09:05 PM

All of those links are pretty interesting. I loved reading that Midnight Society page jwoody. I live in the UK and it's made me want to visit New Jersey now cause of all the freaky stuff on that site :D. That mansion which has been abandoned on that site because of lack of funding or bankruptcy is absolutely amazing. I wouldn't be too suprised if someone hasnt come along and finished it off yet. Truly stunning building.

Edit: The Colts Neck mansion if you're wondering

pinoychink790 03-01-2005 09:26 PM

i don't know but those pictures really freaked me out. I think i'm going to have some nightmares tonight

Hampshire 03-03-2005 08:15 PM

these things are wicked, fun to look at and creepy at the same time

shakran 03-03-2005 08:57 PM

if they're gonna perpetrate a hoax, they should at least name a camera that could take the pics.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ks/pshot27.jpg

This shot could not have been taken with an S20 because it requires a rapid zoom while the shutter is open. You can only do that with an SLR camera that has manual zoom.

Benji 03-04-2005 04:15 AM

nice point you've got there shakran

03-10-2005 04:09 AM

are these all from the same place? i really liked them and i'd like to visit wherever that is. how'd you find these?

Bratwurst 03-10-2005 07:48 AM

Just found this thread... the links to the other forums are bad now probably because of the time that has past. Anyone know of any other resources on these pictures? I'd love to read more. Thanks.

lordpoopshank 03-12-2005 09:04 AM

Pretty cool.

Blackthorn 03-13-2005 06:52 AM

Pretty nice photos in a Blaire Witch Project sort of light! I'm with ShaniFaye -- let's go find an abandonded building out yonder that we can explore :D

Oh yeah and by the way ... I'll send you a pm with my address so you can return my camera. THANKS!

userasdf1234 03-13-2005 08:09 AM

at first the pics were errie, but when it was revealed that it was a hoax, it kinda killed the mood of the pics.

Furry 03-16-2005 05:07 AM

Looks like someone was taking development pics for MGS3 :)

The original poster was under 18.

This series was originall posted on the Something Awful forums under the title "I found a camera in the woods." Since then, ti has spreda like wildfire and everyone on the internet has seen it. If I remember correctly it's a side project done as part of a college art project and a promo for a guy's business. It's all fake, and the location was found and posted by Cervantes in post #63.

Benji 03-22-2005 04:16 PM

Thanks for clearing that shit up MrSD! :)

ShaniFaye 03-22-2005 04:21 PM

fake or not, it was fun while it lasted, since it was an adult version of kids "find the hidden "whatever" in the picture"

and the scenery was great....I wished I lived near NY so I could go visit
