do you ever get the feeling you're being watched?
 

i mean really? like you're walking or sitting at a computer or doing some other normal activity, and all of a sudden you just get the instictive feeling to turn around and look behind you, only to find that no one's there? or when the tiny hairs on the back of your neck just stand up for what seems like no apparent reason? or you get that cold shudder going down your spine?
...or am i just a weird one?

I think that's the basis for the movie Sixth Sense. I'm pretty sure it happens to everyone, and M. Night Shyamalan plays on it and says that's the feeling you get when "dead people" (i.e., ghosts) are around.

oh, no...i don't "see" anyone. it just feels weird.

As I read this I feel someone behind me, but I wont turn around.

It's just human natural instinct. You don't know it but you are either thinking about someone watching you or youv'e seen something paranormal but you don't know it.

Have you even been almost asleep or lying in bed when it feels as if someone or something has hit you on the shoulder or anywhere else? It feels like someone just...shook you or bumped you and you jolt up and turn around but no one is there?

I had my webcam on one night. Coulda sworn I was being watched then..

i get that quite a bit, one time tho, when i was like 8 i think i had a bunk bed, my brother was on the bottom bunk and i was on top, and we had a black dog. it was like a black lab, but it was skinnier, she slept on the other side of the room on a mat. i woke up one night and opened my eyes, and saw what looked like a ghost of that dog w/ glowing red eyes. holy shit that scared me, i threw the covers over my head and didnt take them off til it was nice and bright out in the morning. that was the scariest "ghost" experience ive ever had. ive seen ghosts before, but they were never scary, i just kinda accepted it. we live in an old house that was built in the 1700s so it has a lot of history

kinda sorta, but like only when certant songs are playing, the hair on the back of my neck stands up, and i get all like stiff..it's kinda weird.

Other times though, I believe that you're honestly feeling the energy of another being. I get cold chills... sometimes I'm merely noticing their presence.. other times it translates into an emotion and with exreme detailed paid to it.. it because a language from the spirit unto me.

Well, once your mind is set to that mode, any little thing that normally would seem normal, suddenly becomes eery. I know this, because for some reason, my eyes aren't perfect, and I see like weird shapes in the air at times. Like they are almost completely transparent, but I see strangely, liek random specks and shapes in the air, and normally it's like that, but when I get into ghost mode, or I start reading a lot, those shapes suddenly all look like ghosts, and I get really frightened. It's strange...I know.

Oddly, I've never had that "being watched" feeling that I recall. But a few times, I've had the feeling that I'm invisible - that I'll be standing around, and nobody can see me. Sort of like I'm the "ghost".

I do that all the time. I always assume it's my best friend and father of my child that was killed three years ago. It always feels like him, and I'm not scared usually, just sad.

I get that feeling alot, especially when I masterbates....

I think that the scariest shit in the world would be to wake up, and see a ghost or Ross Perot or some other such weirdness staring at you, like a ft from your face.

Sometimes when I take my glasses off, and just let my eyes lose focus I start seeing all kinds of things in the air. Then I see auras around people, and energy flowing through the air. It's actually pretty entertaining.

I get that feeling all the time I'm in front of my computer playing a game late at night. I am 100% convinced though I have a leprachaun in my closet.

I always hear noises and look out the windows in my room. Most of the time its just my fish playing with the rocks, but I swear to god one of these days something is gonna come crashing through my window and im going to have a fucking stroke.

twice this happened to me... i wake up and i hear this random scratching in my wall somewhere accross the room... almost like someone winding up a one-time-use camera...

*scratch-scratch-scratch* and then it stops, then a few seconds later it comes again...

scared the living SHIT out of me... the first time it happened i went to go sleep in the guest bedroom

Hmmm... a couple of comments...

As for the idea that "youv'e seen something paranormal but you don't know it" : That is, in many ways, the antithesis of the idea that you can get increasingly paranoid by reading things like this. What if, instead, you are bringing the thoughts to the front of your mind and therfore those unconcious sights play more closely to your concious mind?


There are a few theories about this, one of which I believe quite a bit. That theory goes something like this...

When you are falling asleep, a lot is happening to your physically and spiritually. Your body's rythms are changing and your conscious mind is slipping away. Now there are two camps even to this theory. One is physical, stating that as your biochemistry changes, sometimes a rush of dopamine (or seratonin perhaps) is released and you are thrown back to full consciousness. The second is metaphysical, stating that this is where your astral body is trying to leave your physical body, but the electromagnetic pull at your chakra is too strong and your astral body is harshly pulled back to your physical body causing a nerous "twitch" or convulsion due to the electrical charge from the spritual friction.

I think I'll take the dopamine explination.

i hope no one is watching me, i just came out of the shower and i havent bothered to get dressed yet

i always get the feeling that im being watched and most of the time i am being such a sexy young man and all ;p nah kiddin, but ye u sit there at night in the dark chilled watching a movie or summat that ive just downloaded such as bourne supremacy and i start to get chillz thinking that someone is behind me or summat, and from my room if you go around the back of my house you can see straight in and i always picture someone standing at my back window staring at me..

I feel like that alot. It's mostly in my house, which I know to be haunted, when I'm by myself. I know that there was a murder/suicide in the house and that one of the people who died was a 20 year old man. He seems to kinda stalk me around the house. It's a little freaky, because I don't get a "good vibe" from the ghost.

That would be the possums.

Seriously though just last week I had a really creepy experience. I was sitting here at my computer, late at night, and my boyfriend had already gone to bed. Suddenly I had the most vivid sense that someone had come up behind me, and it was so real that I just assumed it must be him, so I turned around to look but there was nobody there. The thing is, I even saw a shadow fall across my computer monitor, I'm sure I did. I got so scared I just went in the bedroom and got into bed with him right away. I've never felt creeped out in this apartment before but that really put the fear into me. It was the shadow, you know?

yeah kinda sorta sometimes :P

But I don't think anything of it. Just my biochemical machinary rattling.
